★ ★ ★ ★ ★ As always most of the staff are friendly but it won't be long before the ablution blocks (that's the shower and toilets if your struggling to understand) will be permanently closed due to hygiene and maintenance reasons, I have been informed that a number if complaints have been forwarded to various official departments about the standards of cleaning and serviceability. I have also people complaining to me (as a 15 yr resident I seem to be people's frustration outlet) about lack of security (stuff stolen off boats and Joe public walking down the berth pontoons), the cost of lifting out is very high, although expertly done.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are a traveler visiting Kalamata, marina is a must. A calm place to walk, see the boats, have a coffee or food nearby. The are many restaurants of different types of food (e.g seafood, pork, beef, pasta etc) to try either during summer or even winter time. It is a 10 minutes walk from the port of Kalamata or 20 minutes walk from the center off the city.
If you are a boat owner, marina of Kalamata is a safe place to anchor your boat (try avoid anchoring at the east side of it though for when the wind blows from the west). The one star missed is due to the fact that the marina owner could offer quite more to the skippers for what it charges, but for sure it is far cheaper than the Athenian Marinas.
The next safe place to anchor is Foinikounta which is 29nm away. A nice 40nm route to enjoy sailing is Kalamata - Koroni - Foinikounta - Methoni - Sapientza - Pylos.
