P	Panos Toutountzidis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η πλατεία (από το 1994) οφείλει την ονομασία της στον Πόντιο Εθνομάρτυρα Νίκο Καπετανίδη. Ο Εθνομάρτυρας στις 29-9-1921, οδηγήθηκε από τους Τούρκους στην αγχόνη εξαιτίας της πατριωτικής του δράσης. Στην ομώνυμη πλατεία βρίσκεται και το περίλαμπρο μνημείο του Ποντιακού Ελληνισμού με τον αρματωμένο Πόντιο. Κάθε χρόνο στο μνημείο, την ημέρα της γενοκτονίας του Ποντιακού Ελληνισμού, τελείται επιμνημόσυνη δέηση. «Μνήμης χάριν», ας σημειωθεί, για το όλο έργο της πλατείας και το μνημείο, πρωτοστάτησε η Εύξεινος Λέσχη Βέροιας με αρωγή του Δήμου Βέροιας και της Νομαρχιακής Αυτοδιοίκησης Ημαθίας. Τα αποκαλυπτήρια του μνημείου έγιναν στις 21-5-2002. The square (since 1994) owes its name to Pontian Ethnarchy Nikos Kapetanidis. The Ethnographer on 29-9-1921, was led by the Turks to the gallows because of his patriotic action. In the homonym square is the monument of Pontian Hellenism with the pontiac Pontius. Every year in the monument, on the day of the genocide of Pontian Hellenism, there is a memorial service. For the whole work of the square and the monument, the Black Eagle Club of Veria was helped by the Municipality of Veria and the Prefecture of Imathia. The unveiling of the monument took place on 21-5-2002.

Στο κέντρο της πλατείας υπάρχει και η προτομή του Πόντιου δημοσιογράφου Εθνομάρτυρα Νικολαου Καπετανίδη απ όπου πήρε και το όνομα της η πλατεία. Αγωνίστηκε για την ανεξαρτησία του Πόντου και θανατώθηκε δι απαγχονισμού από το τουρκικό δικαστήριο Beautiful square with several shops that serve the basic needs of the inhabitants. In the center of the square there is also the bust of the Pontian journalist Ethnomartyr Nikolaos Kapetanidis from where the square got its name. He fought for the independence of Pontus and was hanged by the Turkish court
