★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The woman at the pharmacy refused to fill our prescription because we are not Greek citizens and do not have the electronic AMKA that Greek citizens have. We explained the situation and that the doctor wrote the prescription in the legal way that is required for people who are not Greek citizens and she still refused to fill the prescription. It is extremely illegal to refuse to give medicine to a person in need when they have the correct prescription for their situation. She has been reported and I hope the government will fine her for this behavior.
EDIT: There was no confusion nor misunderstanding. We repeatedly explained to the pharmacist IN GREEK that there was no electronic AMKA because my husband is not from Greece. The pharmacist kept repeating that it wasn’t her problem, that she needed an electronic AMKA to fill the prescription. We said, how is someone who isn’t Greek supposed to get their medicine then? And she rudely said she didn’t care and to go to a different pharmacy. Unacceptable behavior. Pharmacists are supposed to help people. I strongly recommend you speak with the pharmacist who was on duty about her behavior.
