Fantastic experience. Simple and real, full of history. The wine collection was good as well. Very worthwhile taking the tour and a bottle or two home.

Nice wine experience in the winery of the famous Averof family! The decoration in the winery was very beautiful and in the end you could taste wines made there with a cost of 3 euros per glass! There is also an in house shop where you can buy wines that you tasted before! It is recommended if you find yourself around! Enjoy!

One of the best hotels in the area that keeps the traditional character. Our room, luckily, was probably the best with an amazing view of the winery. Really nice breakfast with local delicacies and products. The visit to the winery is a must anyway, since you are visiting Metsovo. Winery tour is free of charge. Wine tasting comes on a small charge depending on what kind of wines you taste. (Its approximately 2-3€ per tasting glass of 40-50ml) Highly recommended!!!

1st of May 2022. Group of 2. The most mountainous vineyards in Greece, at an altitude of 1100 meters, are in Metsovo. From 1959 the Katogi Averof winery houses more than 1200 oak barrels. We enjoyed the tour inside the cellars where Mr.Keli Naka (Κέλλυ Νάκα) explained to us the whole process of fermentation. She showed us where the red wines mature and barrels with people’s pictures. Moreover, she showed us the barred-room where the oenologists hold the rare collectible bottles with vintage wines from 1974 onwards. Furthermore, she presented to us Evangelos Averoff’s memorabilia and personal items while she told us about winery’s flashback history. She explained to us the workers’ struggle to protect the grapes from being eaten by the mountain bears and the barrels’ cleaning process. Also, we learned that Metsovo is a lucky city that enjoys an Averoff wine that does not sell to the rest of the world. This one called Flogero (Φλογερό). Our visit of the winery, using a variety of audiovisual media along with Mrs.Naka, concludes with a tasting of Katogi Averof wines. She was so kind and willing to explain all the special wines with their different varieties. Overall, it was a great experience within a very informative wine tour that you should not miss it. Bonus: The winery tour was free of charge. Tip: -Do not forget to eat at their restaurant, where they inform you which wine matches the food you have chosen. -If you want to do a wine tasting, just make sure that you arrange it in advance. -Do not forget to purchase their homemade hilopites, trahanas and many marmalades selling at the gift shop. @traveladvicefromagreek

We came here on a whim as we were driving past and it was a great find! The drive from the motorway is beautiful and scenic. The winery itself was great. We came on an open door weekend when the winery tour and tasting was free. Helen gave us a fantastic tour in English, then wine tasting with Maria who was excellent and gave us great food recommendations for Metsova.

We stayed one night as a stop on our tour of Greece. The hosts were really very nice and kind. The rooms were cosy and clean. we had a delicious breakfast with fresh and homemade products. We enjoyed the visit to 15/20 minutes from the wine cellar that is free ! it was a very good choice and if I have to come back to the area one day I will stay again at this hotel.

AMAZING! We had the best time! Clean, beautifully designed, and the staff is very accommodating. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It’s located in a beautiful area with incredible view of the mountains. Walking distance from the village center. The winery is also great! We had a very informative tour and then tasted very unique local wines. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
