I visited the hospital a few days ago for a medical issue and I was impressed by the professionalism and politeness of the doctors and nursing staff. They looked thoroughly at my case and ran all the necessary checks. Also keep in mind that I had no health insurance and all these checks were done for free. A huge thank you to the cardiologist and general medicine departments.

It’s a pity for a specialized univ colon pathology hospital to attain such a poor pain managment during colonoscopy during and after !!

It's a University Hospital with very good doctors and almost all specialties

The only stop of Georgiou Papandreou street, which is cut in half by a line of trees, creating a very nice small park in the middle of the street. On the Northwest it leads to Saint Thomas Square, and Laiko hospital, and on the Southeast it leads to Iroon Square and Stratarchou Papagou street in the centre of Zografou.

On October 9th, whilst visiting Athens, I stepped on a syringe. Fearful and stressed I called the hospital and they advised me to immediately attend. I did have to wait a bit whilst the nurses and doctors attended to more serious cases of heart attacks, strokes and accidents, but the wait was not longer than that experienced in other countries, such as Canada, the USA or Australia. However, when I was called in, I was surprised by the efficiency and friendliness of the staff. Within minutes, my situation was explained to me, drugs were prescribed, a rapid covid test was administered and blood samples were taken, all in the space of 15 minutes. The doctor, Katerina, advised me that she would be calling me on my mobile to attend the specialist at infectious deseases in a couple of days. I went home and within hours she called me and brought my appointment earlier. When I attended the specialist appointment, it was punctual, friendly and very compassionate. Fearful, I might have acquired HIV, they were amazing. Dr Mina, a professor of Medicine, Elpida and her team all reassured me that I would be fine. I went back one more time in a week's time and their efficiency floored me. I had X-rays done in the fastest time in my life. My expectation of this hospital was that it would be substandard, below the usual Anglosaxon standards that I have been accustomed to. Well I have to admit, that it exceeded my expectations in an unprecedented way. Professional, punctual, kind, empathetic, friendly and reassuring, efficient and effective. I have no words to described how impressed I have been with this service. It is a credit to the hardworking people at LAIKO hospital. Yes I have experienced more frills in fancier hospitals in the USA. However, I have never felt that someone cared as much for my wel-being, as I did in this small university hospital! Kudos to all who helped me. I am well thanks to their efforts and they have my eternal gratitude. A massive thank you to all the staff who looked after me at Laiko! Peter Mitchel

I am in the hospital for covid from 1 Jan 2021, the doctors are good and everyone is helping I had a issue with English language which made my life hard in there but still they saved my life I was there for 12 days it was crazy busy because of Covid I don’t know other public hospitals here but if I have to go back again I trust them more
