Amazing place! Had a great time!

This place is unique. On the top of the hill, with a pristine view over Faros bay, yet very windy even on calm days. Close to Faros beaches by car only, really away from anything else.The rooms are large and recently renovated ( 70s style), the bathrooms are spacious. Lovely and discrete owners.

We booked a top floor studio and paid a deposit to secure the booking. After chasing staff for confirmation, they told us that a "travel agent" had made an error re a large wedding party booking and that there was no longer space at the hotel. This was after we paid a deposit and cancelled our other hotel. When they offered us maisonsalaplage down the road, we accepted as accommodation in Sifnos at this stage was hard to come by. Maisonsalaplage was a private apartment, but unfortunately it didn't come with what we were hoping for in the hotel: breakfast, daily cleaning, access to the pool, and someone on sight to help organise taxis etc. In addition to that, the lounge area downstairs was made up of two tiny beds (we were only 2 people and there were beds made for 6!) so we had no sofas or seating areas in the lounge rendering it useless. Further, when the manager mentioned the local cats, we got to know all too well within 30 seconds of opening the terrace door when one hopped in our room and sprayed our bed. Perhaps the worst of this all was no apology and a whole host of emails that went unanswered when asking about breakfast, taxi numbers etc. That was, of course, until the day of checkout when the balance was due when the manager was incredibly punctual in telling us how much we owed and when we could pay it. Once we went to do so, we had to look through their records to show where our deposit had come through because they couldn't find it. All in all, a nightmare of an experience. Maisonsalaplage is a fine apartment (made good because of it's terrace view) but not what we asked for, rude staff, and terrible communication / organisation.

Positive: We are Gina and Aggelo from Melbourne, our cousin recommended highly of this beautiful hotel and location, everything was very satisfying, clean rooms, hearty breakfast nice pool and Faros village very close for walking and enjoying the area. We will surely come back again and recommend to friends and relatives, the owners took very good care of us here. Also, the renting of a car is a must if someone wants to discover more of the island :).

Positive: We loved our stay at the Lighthouse, hand made breakfast, very friendly people and service. Rooms were just like the photos very clean and comfortable with lovely view to the sea, relaxing. The owner and its people did their very best to make our stay super. We will come again for sure next summer We also loved the location and Faros village its one of the best spots in the island..

Positive: Breakfast was super good! Eggs with cheese, fruits, yoghurt, croissants etc. Nice pool. Our room was small but very cozy at the top building with an enormous terrace with view to both sea and mountains. Very romantic!. Negative: Nothing..

Positive: Nice sea style spacious apartment with good amenities and great pool, perfect if you want to eat in and have a very relaxed break playing cards or drinking wine on the two front and back terraces. Negative: Never saw the staff after check-in and WiFi issues never resolved, WiFi never worked, structure is rustic but getting old. If windy pool is unusable. Big problems with rude and disrespectful neighbors which made life unpleasant...when gave feedback never got an answer so guessing staff just don't really care or very professional, disappointing .. it has potential..

Positive: Rooms are very spacy and clean. The breakfast is really good. Beautiful swimming pool with view on the moutains.. Negative: Accessible by car only (700m walking distance from Faros but along the main road - a bit dangerous with young children especially) Very windy when there is wind. Room for breakfast closed (probably due to covid-19).
