Lost Athens - Archelaou 7

4.5/5 based on 8 reviews

Quality has no labels in this restaurant in Pagrati, Athens. Neither the people.
How would you feel if someone was saying to you “enjoy your fucking dinner"? surprise? Maybe. Intimacy? possible.
However, the contrast between the chilliness of the word “enjoy” and the intensity of the word “fucking” is an interesting philosophy reflected in Lost Athens aesthetics.

Only when you are lost you can find yourself. It’s exactly how I would describe this place. The menu is a big surprise. Plates looking too good to taste as good equally and then voila .. they taste even better! The wine and local beers menu is splendid. The staff extremely discrete and polite. Really amazing

This is a unique take on food combinations that really works! The bread is more a muffin style, with chilled butter, delicious oil and flake salt to sprinkle. We had two tacos, burrata salad with figs, duck and fish special. Everything was exceptional. All the food was fresh and cooked perfectly. Also, the server gave us a special drink on the house. It was similar to a cold soup. We finished with a local liquor that was suggested. Tasted like sweet juniper. It was a fun evening.

The industrial style restau is my favorite. In this place they have combined an amazing lean ambience with extraordinary twisted flavors. We ordered 6 dishes and I was so busy trying the flavors that unfortunately I have no photos for you. beef tataki, lasagna, ravioli, duck breast, yakitori secreto and 1 dish of the day. Everything was perfectly good. My favorite was the ravioli but the rest are following not much behind. Sweets were as good as the food too. We tried tiramisu and creme brulee. Most probably I will go again to try the remaining menu. Other upsides is than the menu and the ambience is the extremely friendly & helpful staff. On the downside is the parking in the surrounding area, but there is a gas station a few meters away with parking, sovling this problem too.

The portions aren't large, but much thought and care has gone into their creation and preparation yielding amazing dishes with taste combinations that blew my mouth away. The sashimi, the mackerel and the cauliflower dishes I had were so packed with flavor I ate them extra slow just so I could let my taste buds savour what was surrounding it. This is not a restaurant for someone who's just looking to chow down because they're starving, this is a place for those who want to eat and be blown away by the flavors that are entering their mouth.

Excellent service and presentation! Mackerel and tuna were delicious. But please change the crumbling leather seats, it was hard to get unstuck and we had to shake it off after leaving.

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst wandering the city and it was a real treat. Some high end food and of course great wine. Pleasant surprise and worth a detour for the quality (and art)

My second visit after 5 months. New menu, new taste thrills, same level of satisfaction. The escolops (which is actually one) and the tartar were my highlights. Perfect flow of food, gradually escalating. Great service, great setting.

Lost Athens? As in.. Athens is lost. Waited (waiting) over 20 minutes for my food. Really regret popping in on a whim. > First they insisted on photo ID check ALONGSIDE my vaccination (they did this for everyone, also, first time seeing this after 2 weeks in Greece) - then when I asked for TAP water, they brought a bottle of water and said “still” (again, fine..). I wrapped my hand around it and twisted…. Then heard this hiss. It was carbonated water. I can deal with being forced to buy bottled water but giving me carbonated water when I asked for still is downright unacceptable. second I ordered beef tartare, it was really small. (Edit) The pork cheek was overcooked (or not cooked long enough) but generally fine. The mackerel was acceptable, if forgettable. It’s almost as if they’re trying to differentiate themselves by being vanilla in a city where food is almost overwhelmingly hearty.
