Madame Phú Man Chú - Skouleniou 4

4.3/5 based on 8 reviews

The common trait between the different Asian cuisines may be the raw materials (lots of vegetables, fish and meat combined with spices and fresh herbs), but in Vietnam the culinary practice is milder and with many techniques (you might find this strange) from French gastronomy, inherited from the time when the French ruled over “Indochina”. The flavor profile of Vietnamese cuisine is the most “Mediterranean” of Southeast Asia and is rather familiar to us, Greeks, while still undeniably exotic.

The history of food in Vietnam is more or less the same as that of Greece. The family gathers around the table, sharing the freshly cooked dishes.

Raised in one of the vast Asian families, for which food preparation is an integral part of the everyday ritual, the Vietnamese chef is a very interesting mix of a classic and also open-minded self-taught cook.

Very good Vietnamese food. As authentic as it can get. Loved the fish curry. The G&T was very special. The ambiance is casual and homey and the service just lovely.

Excellent vietnamese cuisine in a pleasant environment. Phu man chu is a great place for lunch or dinner in Athens city centre. Everyone is really friendly.

Been there a few times….it’s getting better and better! On my last visit they offered ginger tea, nice welcome gesture. They also served a complimentary dish, muscles with gin sauce- amazing!! My favorite: the shrimp soup. To die for.-

Wonderful little restaurant discovered in the center of athens, the warm welcoming ginger drink was a great gesture, the plates we ordered from the pho ga beef and shrimp soup to the eggplant salad and pork belly stew was fantastic including the serving amounts just enough for your taste buds, the mango and coconut sorbet ice cream is a must try, the lemon grass gin cocktail and last but not least the staff were very friendly and welcoming, a place to be admired for their culinary efforts and fresh cooked tasty food in greece ??

Tasty Vietnamese food in the heart of Athens. Unfortunately the cleanliness could certainly be improved. Menus were grimey and staff were coughing into their hands (not ideal given the current climate!). The atmosphere was great.

I tried for the first time Vietnamese food and sure is different (in a pleasant way) compared with what is served as Asian food in Athens. I honored everything I ordered by leaving a clean plate! ?

That was a good try. The food was okay but nothing close to authentic Vietnamese food. I would say, the restaurant serves Vietnamese food with Chinese flavour something not ideal when you are looking for a traditional Vietnamese food. Pho was a bit bland and the meat not that soft. I would appreciate more a chef from Vietnam.
