Mario's has been an establishment that has been around in the Ano Patisia neighborhood for decades! The current owner Giannis (John) has done a wonderful job with keeping this neighborhood treasure going . The best part is the food and the fact it is spotlessly clean. The food reminds me of home cooking . The meatballs had fresh minced mint -which surprised me as most use dried herbs which have a muted taste. Fava was served with chopped onions a drizzle of a evoo, oregano and capers -to die for. Their mixed platter which consisted of bean salad, tzaziki dip, and a plethora of meatballs, loukaniko (homemade sausage), small bites of beef Sauté with onions and garlic and reduced in red wine- divine and last but not least zucchini fritters my fav . I highly recommend the trip to try this place. I would like to see on the menu in the future some xorta (dandelion greens) or vleita (wild spinach) when in season! Keep up the great work!

This quaint little café reminds you of Athens in the 60s and 70s and is a very a pleasant surprise to those who like traditional Greek mezedes. With Easter fast approaching, they also offer a fasting menu besides the usual meat menu. An additional dish is made especially every day, which you need to ask for. Whatever we tried so far has been well prepared and tasty and when we called ahead they graciously accepted to prepare our food for our quick lunch break. This is a place where you can find artisan liqueurs and beer made by the owners—just ask for the beer of the day if you want to be surprised. The service was very helpful and friendly and everything was spotless. The great patio and view outside also helps you relax on a stressful day, and briefly feel like you are out leisurely bathing in the sun. Strongly recommend for a visit!

Best place to eat and drink great Greek "meze" and drink tsipouro! The host is a real pleasant guy who knows his way around food and Athens. So, feel free to ask for any guidance!
