The Jewelry there has a very high quality. Each piece is a piece of art. You would want to buy it to feel you have a unique design that also reflects the local Greek identity. I'm not one to wear or purchase jewelry - ever! - but this changed just a couple of weeks ago during my visit to beautiful Greece. Walking around the Flea Market in Athens (which is amazing!!) I saw a pair of earrings that immediately caught my eye. I walked in the jewelry store - MARIS, (which I now call the "Gem in the Flea Market") just off the square, and asked for a closer look. The owner of the store, Yannis, mentioned that this is one of the original jewelry stores in the area and one that still remains in spite of so many others closing. He explained that those particular earrings were of the Byzantine style. I told him that I wasn't really looking to buy them since I haven't worn jewelry in many years, but that they were very, very lovely. After a nice and friendly conversation about the beautiful city of Athens, the culture, and of course a detailed explanation of Byzantine jewelry and how it is beautifully designed following a centuries-old Greek tradition and carefully crafted by hand, I decided to contemplate the idea of purchasing them. I asked him to see the pendant which is breathtaking... and then... the ring!!! I completely fell in love with the whole set, and although it was not in my plans to buy the shiny accessories, it was in the stars and I walked out of the store with a huge smile on my face, butterflies in my stomach, and a cute little beige gift bag with the precious contents - a complete set of Byzantine jewelry with gorgeous aqua enameled rosettes with details of red and white, all set on 18K gold!! What have I done?!! - I kept asking myself. Well, I'm a changed woman and I LOVE this jewelry - as crazy as this sounds for anyone who knows me. I cannot wait to wear it but I do need a special occasion! Here's a huge shout-out to Yannis not only for his invaluable lesson on jewelry, great conversation about his culture, the little shot of coffee we shared, and for getting me to wear jewelry again!! If you visit Athens, go see Yannis and tell him to show you this particular style of jewelry. And the price is unbelievable for the amazingly gorgeous high quality jewelry!! We read the reviews prior to coming here and checked out other places close by but by far this place and Yannis drew us in. I made it to Greece determined that I would leave with a memorable 3 three piece necklace of the country I fell in love with. I had an idea in mind of how it needed to look and that made it difficult to find, UNTIL I ran into Yannis. My husband drew out the idea and Yannis went to work. In the best expression possible...he nailed it out of the park! I absolutely 1000% love my jewelry!!! We asked for 18k gold, designed the medallion piece, and Yannis added some extra sparkle to one piece. I was beyond satisfied and would give his place 10 stars if I could. No one offered to make a custom piece for us and therefore it would not have crossed our minds to ask. Do yourself a favor and go see Yannis and his crew if you are looking for something in particular. If you don't find it there, ask them and they will be more than willing to help make your dreams come true...so Glad we did! Beautiful range of Jewellery. I have bought 3 Christening crosses from this shop and they have always been very helpful and the prices are competitive. The have some beautiful pieces and rare colour diamonds especially the Poniros collection. Highly recommend it to anyone in Athens with good taste in Jewellery.

The place to go to for a proposal ring!!! A friend recommended me to call Yannis, he‘s truly amazing! I was communicating with him for about a month (thank you for your patience) and sent him pictures with ideas. Note: He makes you a custom ring, with whatever materials you wish.
