We too showed up a little late and the owner took about an hour with us to explain all about what happens in a beehive which was fascinating (I didn’t know that bees never sleep!) as well as the benefits of the propolis and wax the bees produce. You can taste the different varieties of honey for free and also a honey liquor, delicious! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Corfu.

R	Robert on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the BEST activities to do while you are in Corfu and I can tell you I wasn’t disappointed. It was one, if not the best, activity we did so far in Corfu. I don’t usually make reviews, but I wrote not one, but two of them (Trip Advisor). We went to wineries around Greece, to Olive mills, but having the owner explain to you in detail how beekeeping works is something different. If you’re looking to go off the beaten path, you got the right guy and the right activitiy. He spent at least 1 hour with us answering all of our questions. It was a very educational and informative tour. Would definitely recommend. Give him a call or an e-mail to make sure he’s going to be there and not with his bees. Since it’s not a touristy place, he might be elsewhere. Don’t get fooled by the opening hours.
D	Dirty Diesel on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Walk to the honey farm from the Grand Mediterraneo hotel organised by the hotel Tui rep. An easy 20 minute walk to the local honey farm was a most enjoyable way to spend the morning. A wonderful insight into bees and honey by the owner who clearly loves his work/passion. And fantastic tasting honey too.

The owner/manager talked with us and educated us on the detailed workings of a bee hive. He then showed us all the equipment and processes involved in harvesting honey. Did you know that the taste and color of the honey depends on what plants the bees got pollen from? Very interesting and educational. We bought a few jars of honey and are very happy with them. The prices are really good and jars of honey make great gifts.

Businesses like the beekeeping of Mr Vasilakis are the most valuable to preserve quality and culture. I encourage everyone that enjoys honey or has an interest in beekeeping to drop by and have a taste. You will leave with a great understanding of crafting honey and a few precious jars to take home. Mr Vasilakis is an excellent host and genuine, endearing person that we enjoyed having a conversation with. We wish him all the best!
