★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το βράδυ της 6ης Δεκεμβρίου 2008, ο 15χρονος μαθητής Αλέξανδρος Γρηγορόπουλος, βρισκόταν στο σημείο αυτό μαζί με τον φίλο του Νίκο Ρωμανό, για να γιορτάσουν την ονομαστική του εορτή.
Λίγο μετά τις 21:00 η ώρα, ένα περιπολικό της αστυνομίας που περνούσε από την περιοχή δέχτηκε αποδοκιμασίες από ομάδα νεαρών.
Στη συνέχεια το περιπολικό απομακρύνθηκε, αλλά δύο αστυνομικοί επέστρεψαν πεζοί, και ένας εξ αυτών, ο ειδικός φρουρός Επαμεινώνδας Κορκονέας πυροβολώντας δυο φορές είχε ως αποτέλεσμα να σκοτωθεί ο Αλέξανδρος Γρηγορόπουλος.
Το περιστατικό συνέβη εδώ στην διασταύρωση των οδών Μεσολογγίου και Τζαβέλλα.

Σήμερα στο σημείο αυτό, στον τοίχο μιας οικοδομής, είναι τοποθετημένη μία μαύρη πινακίδα με φωτογραφία του Αλέξανδρου γρηγορόπουλου και την αναφορά στο θάνατο του.
On the evening of December 6, 2008, the 15-year-old student Alexandros Grigoropoulos was at this place with his friend Nikos Romanos, to celebrate his name day.
Shortly after 9pm, a police patrol passing through the area received disapproval from a group of young people.
The patrol was then removed, but two police officers returned on foot, and one of them, the special guard Epamineondas Korkoneas, fired twice, killing Alexandros Grigoropoulos.
The incident happened here at the intersection of Mesolongiou and Tzavella streets.
