Ο χώρος πολύ περιποιημένος καί σχεδιασμένος τέλεια για την περίπτωση, η δε τεχνική και τέχνη του αγάλματος ξεπερνά κατά πολύ το άριστον. Έχει κιόσκια ξύλινα που θα μπορούσαν να χρησιμοποιηθούν για πικ Νικ (είχα πάει καθαρά Δευτέρα του 2013) αλλά από τότε είναι ασυντηρητα και ετοιμόρροπα και επικίνδυνα... Ο Δήμος το έχει εγκαταλείψει το μέρος. Μόνο στην ετήσια γιορτή 3 Απριλίου ημερομηνία γέννησης του Θεόδωρου Κολοκοτρώνη τρέχει ο Δήμος να στήσει κιόσκια για να μην κάνουν από τον ήλιο οι επίσημοι.... Και αφήνει τα στριφωνια στο έδαφος να προεξέχουν χωρίς να σκεφτεί ότι ο απλός επισκέπτης μπορεί να μην τα δει και να πέσει πάνω τους και να τραυματιστεί συγχαρητήρια στο συνεργείο του Δήμου.... Τον Ιανουάριο του 1806 και ενώ βρισκόταν στην Πελοπόννησο βγήκε διάταγμα δίωξής του. Αποτέλεσμα αυτού ήταν να ακολουθήσει πολύμηνη περιπετειώδης και δραματική καταδίωξή του από τους Τούρκους σε πολλά χωριά και πόλεις της Πελοποννήσου. Όταν οι κάτοικοι των βερβένων αρνήθηκαν να συνδράμουν τους καταδιωκόμενους κλέφτες, αυτοί κατέστρεψαν το χωριό. In January 1806, while he was in the Peloponnese, a decree was issued to prosecute him. Τι να πει κανείς για τον ΤΕΡΑΣΤΙΟ ΘΕΟΔΩΡΟ ΚΟΛΟΚΟΤΡΩΝΗ!!!ΕΛΛΗΝΑΣ ΛΙΟΝΤΑΡΙ..Γεννήθηκε το 1770 και έφυγε από τη ζωή το 1843..Υπάρχει ένα πολύ ωραίο δασάκι στη συνέχεια του αγάλματος που μπορεί να το περπατήσεις και επίσης έχει κιόσκια για πικ νικ και ένα μικρό ρυάκι.Να σημειώσω ότι εκεί βρίσκεται μια πέτρα μεγάλη στην οποία γράφει επάνω ότι εκεί γεννήθηκε ο ΘΕΟΔΩΡΟΣ ΚΟΛΟΚΟΤΡΩΝΗΣ... One of the most beautiful statues in a beautiful location and overlooking the whole plain .. What can one say about the HUGE THEODOROS KOLOKOTRONIS !!! GREEK LION..Born in 1770 and passed away in 1843..There is a very nice forest next to the statue that you can walk and also has picnic kiosks and a small stream. I should note that there is a large stone on which it says that THEODOROS KOLOKOTRONIS was born ...

Wir kamen eigentlich eher durch Zufall auf dem Weg nach Olympia hier vorbei, da wir noch Zeit hatten und einfach einem der braunen Hinweisschilder gefolgt sind. Der Ort selbst soll der Geburtsort des griechischen Freiheitskämpfers Theodorus Koloktronis (1770 - 1843) sein. Durchaus möglich, da Koloktronis in eine Kleften-Familie hineingeboren wurde. Die Statue wurde 2007 errichtet und an der nahegelegenen Kapelle wurden anscheinend zu diesem Zeitpunkt für die Feierlichkeiten Bänke und Pavillons errichtet, die aber inzwischen stark verfallen sind. Insgesamt ein netter Abstecher wenn man ohnehin ein wenig Zeit hat. For non-Greeks probably not necessarily one of the places you have to be. We actually passed here by chance on the way to Olympia, as we still had time and just followed one of the brown signs. The place itself is said to be the birthplace of the Greek freedom fighter Theodorus Koloktronis (1770 - 1843). Quite possible because Koloktronis was born into a Kleften family. The statue was erected in 2007 and benches and pavilions were apparently erected at the nearby chapel at that time for the celebrations, but they have since fallen into disrepair. Overall, a nice detour if you already have a little time.
