Αξίζει μια επίσκεψη για την μοναδικότητα της μονής για την ιστορία της . It is an amazing place where sister Filothei lives for a single nun. It is worth a visit for the uniqueness of the monastery for its history.

S	Sotiris Skevis on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Πολύ ωραία τοποθεσία και όμορφη εκκλησία. Άξια η μοναδική μοναχή (περίμενε και μία άλλη να έρθει) που καλλωπίζει, συντηρεί και αναβαθμίζει τον χώρο. Αξίζει την επίσκεψη μας και τον πενιχρό οβολό μας για να διατηρηθεί ένα αξιόλογο μνημείο. Very nice location and beautiful church. Worth the only nun (wait for another to come) who beautifies, maintains and upgrades the space. It is worth our visit and our meager obol to preserve a remarkable monument.

Ένας τόπος γεμάτος ενέργεια από τη Θεία χάρη που περιβάλλει τον τόπο. Υπάρχει μία παλιά εκκλησούλα πανέμορφη. Πριν από αιώνες, ζούσανε 400 περίπου μοναχοί οι οποίοι πιάστηκαν αιχμάλωτοι και τους σφάξανε πειρατές... Το μοναστήρι καταστράφηκε και με τη χάρη του Θεού θα αναβιώσει και πάλι. Το μοναστήρι ιδρύθηκε από τον όσιο Μελέτιο. Μαγευτική θέα και πολύ κρύο το χειμώνα!!! An old small Monastery which the nun Filothei, the only one there, is trying to restore. It does a very good job !!! A place full of energy from Divine grace that surrounds the place. There is a beautiful old church. Centuries ago, there were about 400 monks who were taken prisoner and slaughtered by pirates ... The monastery was destroyed and by the grace of God will be revived again. The monastery was founded by Saint Meletios. Magnificent view and very cold in winter !!!

Συγχαρητήρια αξίζουν στην μοναχή Φιλοθέη που περιποιείται όχι απλά ένα χριστιανικό μνημείο, αλλά και έναν σημαντικοτατο αρχαιολογικο χώρο. Ό Όσιος Μελέτιος φέρεται ως ο ιδρυτής της Μονής αυτής , καθώς πρόκειται για τον Ναό της Θεομήτορος που ανήγειρε με την Βοήθεια και Χρηματοδότηση του φίλου και προστάτη του, Αυτοκράτορα του Βυζαντίου, Αλέξιου Α΄ του Κομνηνού (1081-1118). Ο κυρίως Ναός είναι σταυροειδής, εγγεγραμμένος μετά τρούλου της κατηγορίας των Κωνσταντινοπολίτικων τετρακιονίων και η κάτοψη του αντέγραφε το καθολικό της Μονής του Οσίου Μελετίου. Δυστυχώς ο αρχικός Ναός κατέπεσε και οι κάτοικοι του χωριού περί το έτος 1890 μετέτρεψαν σε καινούργιο Ναό τον ευρύχωρο παλαιό νάρθηκα αφού πρόσθεσαν προς ανατολάς τρίπλευρη αψίδα ιερού και προς δυσμάς ψηλό προστώο. Είναι χτισμένος σε σημείο που υπήρχε αρχαίος ναος του Απόλλωνα, στον περίβολο και εντοιχισμένα στον ναο μπορείτε να δείτε τμήματα κιονων και λοιπά spolia σε δεύτερη χρήση ως οικοδομικό υλικό. Κατα την διάρκεια της ρωμαιοκρατιας, στον χώρο ιδρύθηκε και λουτρό, κατάλοιπα του οποίου θα δείτε βόρεια του ναου. Το χριστιανικό μοναστήρι αριθμούσε μέχρι και 400 μοναχούς, ενώ στον χώρο υπήρχε και δίκτυο υπογειων στοων για την προστασία τους από επιθέσεις πειρατών. Δυστυχως, η ιστορία της μονης έχει και περιστατικά όπου τέτοιες επιθέσεις οδηγούσαν σε ολοκαύτωμα της μοναστικης κοινότητας. Η μόνη είναι ένας εκπληκτικός προορισμός, και όταν δείτε πόσο αξίζει σαν αρχαιολογικος χωρος, θα καταλάβετε και το ποσο σημαντικό είναι να συνδράμουμε όλοι για την περαιτέρω ανάπτυξη του διαχρονικα σημαντικού αυτού χώρου. An amazing monastery, which takes your breath away from its beauty. Congratulations to the nun Filothei who takes care not only of a Christian monument, but also of a very important archeological site. Saint Meletios is said to be the founder of this Monastery, as it is the Temple of Theomitoros that he built with the help and funding of his friend and protector, Emperor of Byzantium, Alexios I of Komnenos (1081-1118). The main church is cruciform, registered after a dome of the category of Constantinople quadrangles and its floor plan copied the katholikon of the Monastery of Osios Meletios. Unfortunately the original church collapsed and the inhabitants of the village around the year 1890 turned the spacious old narthex into a new church after adding a three-sided arch of a sanctuary to the east and a high portico to the west. It is built on the site of an ancient temple of Apollo, in the precinct and built into the temple you can see parts of columns and other spolia in second use as building material. During the Roman occupation, a bath was established in the area, the remains of which you will see north of the temple. The Christian monastery numbered up to 400 monks, while in the area there was a network of underground galleries to protect them from pirate attacks. Unfortunately, the history of the monastery also has incidents where such attacks led to a holocaust of the monastic community. The only one is an amazing destination, and when you see how much it is worth as an archeological site, you will understand how important it is for all of us to contribute to the further development of this time-important site.

Η μοναχή του ναού θα σας εξυπηρετήσει και θα σας μιλήσει για την ιστορία του χώρου που έχει αρκετό ενδιαφέρον. Nice and well-kept monastery. Of course you will find it open every day. Φιλόξενη καλοσυνατη.... αναψαμε ένα κεράκι και πήραμε το κέρασμα μας από την μοναχή.... αξίζει η επίσκεψη.... Awesome spot with incredible views. The monastery is very beautiful and cared for by the one and only nun. Hospitable and kind .... we lit a candle and got our treat from the nun .... it is worth the visit ....
