★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely monastery surrounded by lots of beautiful trees and shrubs, relax to the sound of the water trickling down from the mountain to the stream below, the birds singing in the trees, and watch the many multicoloured dragonflies and butterflies!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A serene beauty of an old monastery that is kept so well by the monks living there.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Walked here one morning at sunrise. Didn't actually go in which is a shame as the pics are lovely but it was too early in the morning. There's a cafe just outside the gates and a beach a short walk away.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ After a nice walk up from Askeli, we had pleasant drinks at cafe near to the Monastery. A sign states that you need to wear long trousers/skirt to enter the Monastery - however various cotton cloth pieces can be found in entrance proper to cover up any bare skin. Freebie Turkish Delight tasters at entrance which was a nice touch. Inside not a great deal to see; chapel with Christian iconography if you like that sort of thing, small courtyard, tiny giftshop and that's about it. No access to living quarters but I guess that's understandable if a bit disappointing (an example rather than an occupied room may be an idea). Excellent views across to mainland Greece from just outside entrance proper - I can see why they chose the location over 3 centuries ago!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very attractive site with a bowl of delicious loukumi at door to the courtyard. The small church just outside the monastery proper has the more attractive interior. Some good photo ops. Good for a half-hour or so. Skip Monastery beach, by the way. It is a poorly-maintained and unattractive place with no redeeming qualities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We waited an hour for it to open at 5 at the neighbouring café. The views from outside the monastery make the trip worth it, but it’s nothing remarkable inside the monetary. They had scarves/skirts available inside for those who weren’t wearing appropriate clothing to visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A 5min walk from Askeli beach, at the hill, there is this scenic Monastery which you should definitely need to visit.
Just keep in mind to dress properly or you will just have to wear one of the long trousers/skirts that thw Monastery provides you with.
The view is very beautiful and the Monastery inside is very well kept!
