Η ονομασία πιθανότατα απηχεί τη φραγκική παρουσία στην περιοχή σε μεταγενέστερους χρόνους και δεν έχει άμεση σχέση με τον ναό, που είναι παλαιότερος από την εποχή της Φραγκοκρατίας. Ο ναός οικοδομήθηκε τον 11ο αιώνα και είναι το μόνο κτίσμα που έχει διατηρηθεί από το συγκρότημα της μονής. Μέχρι τις αρχές του 20ού αιώνα σώζονταν κοντά του ερείπια κτηρίων που μάλλον στέγαζαν τα κελλιά των μοναχών. Σήμερα, όμως, ο χώρος του έχει αλλοιωθεί από τις επεμβάσεις, τις διαμορφώσεις και την ανέγερση νέων κτισμάτων και έχει ανεβεί το επίπεδό του έτσι ώστε να παραμορφώνονται οι αναλογίες του κτηρίου. Και το ίδιο το οικοδόμημα, όμως, έχει υποστεί σημαντικές μετατροπές στο πέρασμα των αιώνων, ιδιαίτερα στα χρόνια της Τουρκοκρατίας. Πανέμορφο εκκλησάκι αξίζει να το επισκεφτείτε όσοι βρεθείτε κοντά. Favorite church. I was born and raised in Athens but I chose to do the wedding and baptism for my daughter there. A beautiful small church is worth visiting for those who are close by.

L	Lavdas Theo on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The church of Virgin Fragkavilla was built in 11th century.It is located in the south south east corner of Amaliada city about 1.5 km from the centre of the town.The church has a lot of history which starts from Byzantium.Its architecture is unique and has been influenced by the Byzantine trends of that era.The church its self it is located inside a beautiful rocky walls with a gardens and trees .The church is small and for that reason many ceremonies take olace outside in a special arranged area for that kind of purposes.The visitor has a panoramic view of the valley of the countryside.The church most of the time is open for the public.
