Η Μονή της Κοίμησης Θεοτόκου Βισοκού, βρίσκεται σ ένα μικρό οροπέδιο σε απόσταση 3 χλμ. από το χωριό Καλουτά ή Καλωτά του Κεντρικού Ζαγορίου το οποίο έχει αναλάβει και την επίβλεψη της Μονής.Το χωριό Καλουτά απέχει 47 χλμ. από την πόλη των Ιωαννίνων. Εκκλησιαστικά υπάγεται στη Μονή Βουτσάς (Γρεβενήτι Ανατολικού Ζαγορίου. Η ονομασία Βισοκός, ετυμολογείται από τη σλαβική λέξη vysokb , που σημαίνει τόπος υψηλός, ενώ στο τοπικό ιδίωμα προφέρει το τοπωνύμιο στου φισκό ή στου βρισκό , κατά παρετυμολογία της λέξεως φυσικό. Στη θέση του μοναστηριού υπήρχε ομώνυμος οικισμός και ήταν σε σημείο με εμπορική αξία καθώς ήταν πέρασμα από τη Θεσσαλία για την Ήπειρο και τα λιμάνια της Αδριατικής. Υπήρξε ένα από τα σημαντικότερα θρησκευτικά, ιστορικά και πνευματικά κέντρα της Ηπείρου.

The Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Visokos, is located on a small plateau at a distance of 3 km from the village of Kalouta or Kalota of Central Zagori, which has taken over the supervision of the Monastery. The village of Kalouta is 47 km from the city of Ioannina. Ecclesiastically it belongs to the Monastery of Voutsas (Greveniti of East Zagori. The name Visokos is etymologically derived from the Slavic word "vysokb", which means high place, while in the local idiom it pronounces the place name "stou fiskos" or "stou vrisko" . At the site of the monastery there was a settlement of the same name and it was in a place of commercial value as it was a passage from Thessaly to Epirus and the Adriatic ports. It was one of the most important religious, historical and spiritual centers of Epirus.
