★ ★ ★ ★ ★ "Japan and the book" was a perfect exhibition, created with the love and care of private collectors, who managed to bring a small portion of this huge culture for people to enjoy! The art of the wood paintings (ukiyo-e) and the book collections of Lafkadio Hern and the first samples of the art of manga, were exquisite and worth researching. Although it's a short exhibition, it's worth your while.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Newly renovated building hosts very interesting exhibitions. Entrance fee is always free, worth a visit if you are nearby. We attended the temporary exhibition "Japan and the books" with Ukiyo-e and Manga of Hokusai, it was very interesting!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The building was built in 1875 by the Danish architect Christian Hansen. It was a silk factory and in 2010 converted into art gallery. It is not very big but it houses quite often art exhibitions and they organise related events like guided tours, lectures etc. Entrance is free of charge. Worth a visit if you're in Athens.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful little museum in a dodgy neighbourhood of Athens. The staff was friendly and polite and suggested the other current exhibition at the Old Municipal Gallery. Sadly, there were no other visitors around and that was a pity because the exhibits were magnificent. There's a lot to be done to upgrade the area - I wish this museum had more luck. I'll definitely visit again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice place. Free entry for the exhibition I visited and close to the centre. Only downside is that it's close to the metaxourgeio area which seems a bit dangerous..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We found this gallery by accident on our last day in Athens and it was a really nice surprise as the collection of paintings is really good plus entry is free.
The security people are friendly although they seem to follow you around which could be a bit intimidating but I guess they are doing their job but probably they should just dress a bit more information? Or follow you in a more discreet way; but anyway it was a good visit and highly recommend it.
