Η οικοδόμησή του τοποθετείται στο τέλος της δεκαετίας του 1890. Ανήκε στην ιδιοκτησία του Ούγγρου καπνεμπόρου βαρόνου Pierre Herzog και χρησιμοποιήθηκε ως κατοικία και επαγγελματική έδρα. Έχει έντονα ρομαντικά στοιχεία παλαιών μεσαιωνικών πύργων, γοτθικά τόξα στους πυργίσκους και στα μπαλκόνια, δύο βενετικές γοτθικές αψίδες εκατέρωθεν της πύλης, δακρυρροή πάνω από τα παράθυρα (dripstone) και προεκτεινόμενο παράθυρο (oriel window), καθαρό δείγμα γοτθικής αναγέννησης. Το 1937 το κτίριο αγοράστηκε από το Δήμο Καβάλας και μέχρι σήμερα, στεγάζει το Γραφείο Δημάρχου και κάποιες από τις διοικητικές του υπηρεσίες.
The mansion where the Municipality of Kavala is housed today is one of the most impressive buildings of the city, with a unique architectural line that looks "foreign" in the city of Kavala and refers to a miniature Hungarian tower.
Its construction dates from the end of the 1890s. It was owned by the Hungarian Barber Barber Pierre Herzog and was used as a residence and a professional headquarters. It has strong romantic elements of old medieval towers, gothic arches in the turrets and balconies, two Venetian Gothic arches on either side of the gate, dripstone and an oriel window, pure gothic Renaissance. In 1937 the building was purchased by the Municipality of Kavala and until today it houses the Mayor's Office and some of its administrative services.
