A great museum. The curator told us so much about the ships and led us through an interesting part of history. We thought we would just hop in and out but ended up spending more than an hour and time just flew by. Highly recommended

Excellent ! Amazing museum with hand made ships built by Mr Sotiris and his son. All ships are built according original designs Entry for the museum is only 4 €. Children are free. You will get a personal guided tour by Mr Sotiris or his son. Mr Sotiris is retired mechanical engineer for ships and well educated in ship history and Greek history. We had an amazing guide and a really nice discussion. Outside of the museum you can see a rebuilding of the ship of Odyssey’s and a rebuild Themistokles ship to take part in the battles against Persians I can fully recommend this museum.

Wonderful little museum with hand built model ships. I definitely recommend stopping by and checking out if visiting the nearby caves.

A truly wonderful experience spending time with the creator of these beautiful models each and every one telling a story while being hand built and incredibly detailed. Thank you for sharing your time and making our day Colin and Norma from Scotland.

A TRUE GEM in Kefalonia... Today I had the most fascinating experience and one that I will not soon forget. My husband, a native of Kefalonia, and I happened upon this new Nautical Museum and we had to stop. First of all it is PRISTINE, outside and in. This museum is the passion of Sotiris Marketos who was ticket taker as well as tour guide. He explained that although he had a career as a marine engineer, he sold all he had in order to buy the property on which the museum is built. NOT ONLY did he also have the building built to his specifications, he ALSO constructed each of the elegant and extremely detailed ships within the museum as well. What was most fascinating to me, however, is that (although I have studied Homer's work, The Odyssey, in Greek and English, I did not know that there are artifacts that lend credence to the fact that Odysseus was real and not just the creation of that ancient poet. The boat of which I am standing beside is part of that great mystery. PLEASE do not leave Greece without a visit here. Kefalonia is a beautiful island as well and now it is even more so with this lovely addition.

Interesting little museum, just with models of Greek ships, from centuries before Christ, through to more recent times. Big model of the Titanic. Lovely elderly man gave us some explanations. But thought 4€ entrance was rather expensive for what it was.

A very nice little private museum full of hand made scale models that tell the story and evolution of Ionian Greek ship building tradition from ca. 1000 BC to the 20th century. All models were made by the museum owner in course of last ten years. Staff is really passionate and proud of their work and will tour you through the exhibit room in either Greek or English. Highly recommended to everyone and especially naval enthusiasts.

After watching the Belgian television show "Dwars Door De Middelandse Zee" by Arnout Hauben, it became impossible for me to not visit the museum that Sotiris created. The amount of time and effort spent on the ships is extensive and reflects his passion for what he's doing. He told some inspirational stories on national TV and is willing to tell you all he knows about his handcrafted ships.
