Naxos Horseriding Club - Kokkino spitia

We had a fantastic ride and got to canter/gallop on the beach as the sun went down. We've both done many hacks but this was the first time we've ridden at pace - it was very exciting! I was on an ex racehorse and was a magnificent animal. All the horses looked very well looked after. Thanks Linda and girls, see you next time we are in Naxos

Literally the coolest thing! No experience needed just long pants and closed toed shoes! Lovely sunset ride with my husband who had never ridden a horse before!

Regarding the experience at Naxos Horseriding Club, I personally think that it's important for you to heard about what we've paid for. Great welcome, nice chat with the owner Linda who made us fill the release form regarding insurance and so on. Sounds pretty clear that we are totally responsable in case of accident, no problem with that. We explained that my husband and I already made horseriding in the US and, as a not regular rider, he feels comfortable to make some gallop on the beach (as he already done during our others experiences). So, Linda told to the girl who where our guide that, if she feels my husband confident enough, she can propose him some gallop. The tour started, great chat with our guides even if the ride is a bit boring. My husband, who where also confortable enough to take pictures, said to one of our guide that he's ready to accelerete, trotting if possible, but no return. Whatever, we expect a lot from the apex of the ride: horseriding on the beach !! Here we are, and here starts the deception. They splited us in 2 groups... so, I had the chance to gallop on the beach. Even if the horse of my guide is very nervous. As I know a bit about horses, I can see that she managed but can't stop thinking that it can be impressive for anybody. The horse kicked a lot... I took some distance, more than asked, to feel safe. Meanwhile, my husband is walking along the beach. The guide didn't asked him if he was ready even to try to gallop... he told her, after a while, that it's very frustrating for him. She just answered that after one or two more rides, he'll be ready. What the hell, he already galloped without any problem before! We returned to the club silently. There, my husband talked to Linda about how frustrating he is. She just said that, as a beginner, she can't allow him to gallop. Sorry? Before the ride, that's not what she said to the guide in front of us. She explained that, regarding insurance issues, she can't take the risk to make gallop a beginner. So, why we signed a release form? Why she didn't told us frankly that beginners are not allowed to gallop?? No doubt because we wouldn't have paid 120€ for a boring walk in the bambous... We stoped there the chat in front of so much bad faith and lived. Spoiled evening. If you read some review on Google, it seems that, as it's the only horseriding club in Naxos, she's just here for money.

It was awesome! The horses are well takien care of. You could see that, the staff were really professional. Also you got good information while booking a tour/ride. Like what to wear, how long the ride would be etc. They are really keen on safety as well (wearing a helmet, closed shoes, long trousers) So in one word..a really great experience!!!

Highlight of the trip! The staff were very professional and helpful, and were able to tell us loads about the island and the horses. The horses were very happy and well looked after. Before the experience we are discussing with the owner and I'm explaining my wife is highly experienced and on my side I had 2 experiences including with some experience gallop in Nevada. She tells in front of us one of the leads that if on the beach I don't feel comfortable to not do some gallop. That's fair. But once in the beach and after I ask to accelerate they decide to divide the group in two, giving my wife the possibility to gallop and only to walk on my side. Despite my will to accelerate, nothing. We are walking slowly on the beach and then we go back to the stable and that's it. End of the "experience". When I ask why did she refuse to even trot knowing that I already made some gallop she says it's because of insurances. In that case why not saying this at the beginning ? Sure I would not have booked this but it would have been honest at least. And why are we asked 3 times to pay knowing that we already paid ? Why if it's a question of experience and insurance didn't they give me any briefing ? If it's a question of insurance why do we sign a release form ? If she ever felt I was not confident enough with this horse, why am I able to discuss with her, sing and even take many pictures holding my horse with a single hand. Money should never be the only objective ! A Naxos vehicule renter told us the same day he was ashamed when some people in the tourist business were able to destroy a part of the tourist trip, knowing that people work all the year for these couple of days. Shame on this horse business club.

It was honestly a really fun and relaxing ride! We sent the morning on our break from our study abroad classes riding horses on the beach! The staff were really nice and the animals where super sweet. I got to ride Penny who seemed really good for someone who's only ridden a few times before. It's great to have horses who know what they are doing so someone who is a beginner doesn't have to worry so much about being in control. Over all it was a fun time and I would definitely do it again if I ever got the chance!

I come back as often as I can. First came for a ride in 2014 and loved it so much that I literally waited years to come back. Linda is probably the single most knowledgable horse person I have ever met. All her horses are well trained and the yard looks so peaceful. They offer riding for all levels, which is really a great option. Although coming from the US, I noticed that we tend to have a lot of categorizations (advanced beginner, intermediate, advanced intermediate). But I discovered that these categories aren't really used in the UK or Europe so I wasn't initially sure what to say I was. Back home I am in the intermediate/advanced class but I had never cantered/galloped on a beach or any wide open space before coming to Naxos. I decided to say I was intermediate and after having done it, it is amazing but I don't recommend trying it if you don't feel entirely comfortable on a horse. Just my two cents. Otherwise, everything else was super chill. The staff there were very nice and accommodating. They provide helmets and the one time my friend forgot closed toed shoes, they even had an extra pair of boots to lend her. There are also SO many cats around the yard and if you like cats as much as I do, then you'll be very happy. The vibe is very laid back, I caught some incredible sunsets while there, and every time I go back I always have the loveliest chats with Linda and the girls that work there. It's definitely the first activity I do whenever I can make it back it Naxos. Do yourself a favour and check this place out!
