Οι άνθρωποι που κατάφεραν να αναβιώσουν την κερκυραϊκή αμπελουργία και προσπαθούν με πάθος να τη διατηρήσουν αξίζουν ένα μεγάλο μπράβο! ?
 ΣαμεWe tried Kakotrygis and Skopelitiko of Leivadiotis Winery last summer and we were pleasantly surprised, as they are rare gastronomic wines with special characteristics!
The people who managed to revive the Corfiot viticulture and are passionately trying to maintain it deserve a big applause! ?

Greeted warmly by Irini, the winemaker and had a great chat with her while tasting their 2 wines made by the Corfiot native grapes, Kakotrygis (white) and Skopelitiko (red). As mentioned in the book "Wine Grapes" by jancis Robinson and Co., they are seriously trying to make varietal wines from these native grapes. Not to be missed if you are on Corfu!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This micro-winery is a total gem, producing high quality organic wines from rare local Kakotrigis (white) and Skopelitiko (red and rosé) Corfu grape varieties. The husband-wife team of Sotiris and Irini Leivadioti have been perfecting wines made from the same two grape varieties for 30 years. The white wine has notes of Jasmine, green apple and citrus peel that linger for a long time. The red is surprisingly complex for a young wine, with notes of ripe red fruit, pepper, star anisseed and licorice with a very long finish. Both wines are relatively low in alcohol, making them enjoyable even in Corfu's famously hot and humid weather. The winery is located on the only good road to one of Corfu's nicest beaches and just a stone's throw from Gardiki Castle, a 13th Century Byzantine castle. I highly recommend the wine and the very knowledgeable hosts!
