★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ὁ Ἱερός Ναός τοῦ Ἁγίου Ἀθανασίου Καστανοχωρίου ἀνεγέρθηκε τό 1955 καί ἐγκαινιάσθηκε τό 1965 ἀπό τόν τότε Μητροπολίτη Σερρῶν καί Νιγρίτης Κωνσταντῖνο (Καρδαμένη). Εἶναι σταυροειδής χωρίς τροῦλο Ναός μέ μεταγενέστερη προσθήκη νάρθηκα.
 The Holy Church of Agios Athanasios Kastanochori was erected in 1955 and inaugurated in 1965 by the then Metropolitan of Serres and Nigritis Constantinos (Kardameni). It is a cruciform without a dome Temple with a later addition of a narthex.
