Ο αδελφός μου, 26 ετών, είχε πόνο στο πόδι λίγα εκατοστά κάτω από την άρθρωση του γόνατος και για αυτό είχε κλείσει ραντεβού με το συγκεκριμένο ιατρό. Ο αδελφός μου ήτανε συνεχώς σπίτι λόγω των περιορισμών που έχουν επιβληθεί λόγω covid-19 και για μεγάλη περίοδο κινήταν ελάχιστα. Ενώ είχε αναφέρει πολλές φορές στον ιατρό κατά την επίσκεψη ότι φοβόταν ότι είχε εν τω βάθει φλεβοθρόμβωση στο πόδι διότι ήταν σε ακινησία για αρκετό καιρό, ο ιατρός τον διαβεβαίωνε ότι δεν έχει. Στο τέλος η διάγνωση του ιατρού ήταν θλάση στη ποδοκνημική άρθρωση(και έδωσε παραπεμπτικό για μαγνητική τομογραφία ποδοκνημικής άρθρωσης)ενώ ο αδελφός μου δεν γυμναζόταν καθόλου για να πάθει θλάση αφού ήτανε συνεχώς σπίτι και ο πόνος ήτανε πιό ψηλά από την ποδοκνημική άρθρωση. Λίγες μέρες μετά ξεκίνησε έντονος πόνος στο στήθος και ο αδελφός μου πήγε αμέσως στο νοσοκομείο όπου διαγνώστηκε με κεντρική πνευμονική εμβολή λόγω θρόμβου που έφυγε από το πόδι και κατέληξε στους πνεύμονες. Ήτανε πολύ κρίσιμα τις πρώτες μέρες και θα μπορούσαμε να τον είχαμε χάσει. Νοσηλεύτηκε στο νοσοκομείο για 4 εβδομάδες, τώρα είναι σπίτι με αντιπηκτική θεραπεία. Καλό θα ήταν να ακούμε τον ασθενή τι έχει να μας πει, πολλές φορές μας λέει τη διάγνωση. Η πνευμονική εμβολή θα μπορούσε να είχε αποφευχθεί εάν ο ιατρός σκεφτόταν τη πιό προφανή διάγνωση (εν τω βάθει φλεβοθρόμβωση)σε ασθενή που ήταν για μεγάλο χρονικό διάστημα περιορισμένος σπίτι. Ο αδελφός μου τον είχε ρωτήσει πολλές φορές « σίγουρα δεν είναι θρόμβωση»....... Θα μπορούσε τουλάχιστον να στείλει ένα επείγον παραπεμπτικό για υπέρηχο κάτω άκρου για να το αποκλείσει.... Very bad experience from this doctor. My brother, 26 years old, had pain in his leg a few centimeters below the knee joint and for that he had made an appointment with that particular doctor. My brother was constantly at home due to the restrictions imposed by covid-19 and for a long time he did not move much. While he had repeatedly told the doctor during the visit that he feared he had deep vein thrombosis in his leg because he had been immobile for some time, the doctor assured him that he did not. In the end the doctor diagnosed a fracture in the ankle joint (and gave a referral for an ankle MRI) while my brother did not exercise at all to get a fracture as he was constantly home and the pain was higher than the ankle joint. A few days later he started having severe chest pain and my brother immediately went to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a central pulmonary embolism due to a thrombus that left his leg and ended up in his lungs. It was very critical in the first days and we could have lost him. He was hospitalized for 4 weeks, now he is home with anticoagulant treatment. It would be good to listen to the patient what he has to tell us, he often tells us the diagnosis. Pulmonary embolism could have been avoided if the doctor had considered the most obvious diagnosis (deep vein thrombosis) in a patient who was confined to a home for a long time. My brother had asked him many times "it definitely is not a thrombosis" ....... He could at least send an urgent referral for lower extremity ultrasound to rule it out ....
