Maybe we just came on the wrong day, but we didn't find the food to be very fresh. The presentation is good and the atmosphere is nice, but the taste of everything we ordered was quite mushy and stale. It tasted like many of the ingredients had been frozen and defrosted (maybe even more than once), or were sitting in the fridge longer than they should. And adding to our dissatisfaction, when we got the bill we saw that the bottle of water they had brought us and put on the table without ordering, had a 1 euro charge which no one mentioned to us of course. Also my partner asked for a little bread, and they brought us 6 pieces of slightly stale bread and charged us for a two person portion. The philosophy of the management is of a low vibration and the food here simply doesn't have soul because of it. We would rather have eaten somewhere else.

Perfect sea food and great stuff working there. It's good place to feel Greek temperament! You can taste really fresh and tasty fish and seafood! Nice authentic Greek music to make your night feel like a real Greek! It's close to the beach and historical buildings.

Very nice and cosy place with very delicious food. Prices are very reasonable. We have been to two other fancy and trendy restaurants but this one is our favourite. The owner is a very nice gentleman. He is a real host.

This is a well deserving and long-due personal review. Let me start by saying that I am not easily excited by meals in restaurants. Usually, the food we prepare with extra care at home is a lot more appetising and wholesome than the one you get to eat at your run of the mill eatery. I am happy to say that this was not the case at "Ouzeri Alexis" located in a quiet pedestrian road close to the sea. Now, if you know anything about us Greeks, 25th of March is our National Independence Day. This means that thousands of Greek people flee to celebrate outside and occasionally take longer trips to enjoy the Sun and Sea. This was also the case with us. Without great expectations as far as food was concerned but determined to enjoy our day out nevertheless. Noon approached and hunger rose, we opted for something close by, with satisfactory reviews since we didn't know much about the city. Keep in mind that almost everything was packed, but we were lucky to find a table inside the restaurant, which was quite nice too. Immediately we were greeted by friendly staff, seated comfortably to our table and notified politely that service could take longer than usual. Since we expected that, we sat down anyway to check the menu and order. For fellow tourists, take notice that the word "ouzeri" in Greek, means a place where you can drink you Ouzo and feast on appropriate "mezedes". In other words, tasty smaller plates food treats which go well with the famous Ouzo. It's also a kind of National tradition to eat fried crispy Cod that day, and other fish too. Eagerly, salted Crispy Cod was still available, so we ordered that together with freshly grilled Mackerel and some roasted Aubergine for an appetizer. Much to our surprise service was quick, certainly not slow and soon we had in front of us these deliciously looking dishes. I can honestly say, that up to this day the fried Cod was and still is the best one I ever had. Amazing tasting crust, crispy on the outside, smooth on the inside just perfectly done keeping all the juices as it should. The serving was quite generous also and we ate the whole thing moaning with satisfaction. The grilled Mackerel was impeccable too, with just the right salt, olive oil and herbs to please every speck of our taste buds. Even the Aubergine was appetising, something that is quite common in all tavernas but still pretty delicious. After that excellent day out, with such good service and food plus taking into account our National celebration day we were pleasantly surprised by everything in that little establishment. Finally, the prices were reasonable, I would happily pay more for such an amazing meal and if we visit the city again, "Alexis" will be our delicious break.
