Ό	Όλγα Πολίτη on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Πάργα είναι παραθαλάσσια κωμόπολη που βρίσκεται στο βορειοδυτικό τμήμα του Νομού Πρέβεζας της άλλοτε επαρχίας Μαργαριτίου. Είναι κτισμένη αμφιθεατρικά επί του γήλοφου Πεζόβολος σε υψόμετρο 139 μ. και έως τα παράλια του Ιονίου Πελάγους. Έχει πληθυσμό 2.415 κατοίκους. Αποτελεί ιστορική έδρα του δήμου Πάργας ενώ η δημοτική ενότητα Πάργας έχει πληθυσμό 3.904 κατοίκους (Απογραφή 2011). Έδρα του δήμου είναι το Καναλλάκι, αλλά η Πάργα αποτελεί οικονομικό, εμπορικό και τουριστικό κέντρο της περιοχής. Στην δημοτική κοινότητα ανήκουν οι τοπικές κοινότητες Αγιάς, Ανθούσας, Λιβαδαρίου. Δεν την αποκαλούν τυχαία άλλωστε, «Πριγκίπισσα του Ιονίου», γιατί είναι γοητευτική, μοναδική, μυστηριώδης, με μακραίωνη ιστορία και ποικίλες φυσικές ομορφιές. Σήμερα η Πάργα αποτελεί το πιο πολυσύχναστο τουριστικό θέρετρο της περιοχής. Σε κοντινή απόσταση υπάρχουν οι παραλίες Κρυονέρι, Πίσω Κρυονέρι (εντός του οικισμού της Πάργας), ο Βάλτος και το Σαρακήνικο στα δυτικά, ο Λίχνος και ο Αϊ Γιαννάκης στα ανατολικά. Απέναντι ακριβώς από την πόλη υπάρχει το γραφικό Νησί της Παναγιάς στο οποίο είναι κτισμένη εκκλησία καθώς και μεσαιωνικά ενετικά και γαλλικά κτίσματα. Αποτελεί τον πιο δημοφιλή τουριστικό προορισμό της Ηπείρου. Είναι χτισμένη στις παρυφές του ενετικού κάστρου και είναι εμφανώς επηρεασμένη από την επτανησιακή αρχιτεκτονική. Η Πάργα τους Καλοκαιρινούς μήνες συνδέεται καθημερινά μέσω ακτοπλοϊκής σύνδεσης με τους Παξούς και τους Αντίπαξους. Επίσης συνδέεται με την Κέρκυρα και την Λευκάδα. Περίπου δεκαπέντε χιλιόμετρα από την Πάργα βρίσκεται το σημαντικότερο αρχαίο μνημείο της περιοχής. Πρόκειται για το σπουδαιότερο νεκρομαντείο της αρχαιότητας, το Νεκρομαντείο του Αχέροντα. Οι Αρχαίοι Έλληνες πίστευαν ότι οι πηγές του ποταμού Αχέροντα αποτελούσαν τις Πύλες του Κάτω Κόσμου. Η Πάργα διαθέτει μεγάλο αριθμό εκκλησιών. Πιθανώς οι πολλές επιδρομές και επιθέσεις που δεχόταν, έκανε τους κατοίκους να στρέφονται στο θρησκευτικό τους συναίσθημα και την ασφάλεια που αυτό προσφέρει. Οι εκκλησίες που βρίσκονταν έξω από την πόλη διέθεταν πολεμίστρες για αμυντικούς σκοπούς. Στα δυτικά της πόλης, στο ακρωτήριο Χελαδιό βρίσκεται η Μονή των Βλαχερνών, μεγαλοπρεπές κτίριο της βυζαντινής περιόδου με ψηλό καμπαναριό που σύμφωνα με την παράδοση είχε εννιά καμπάνες που όταν χτυπούσαν ακουγόταν από απόσταση 12 μιλίων.
