Plaza Resort Hotel - Palea Fokea

Plaza resort is a beautiful seaside hotel, next to a wonderful beach at Anavyssos. Great choice for relaxing vacation close to Athens but at the same time, far enough from the busy city. The rooms are very spacious, nicely and simply decorated, very clean and with a great sea view. The breakfast is wonderful, lots to choose from and of a good quality. Bar is nice too, some days there's nice live music as well. Pool is great. Never the less, hotel lacks of basic services, gym etc. Personal opinion, it is overpriced compared to similar hotels with fully equipped gyms and spas. To me, they should either upgrade or lower their prices.

While the beach is decent and the staff generally friendly, based on being a "five star hotel", this deserves a one star rating. The rooms are run down (bed upholstery was torn, no wall sockets, flickering lights, no laundry hanger or laundry service, damaged shower with razor sharp metal edges, etc.) and the pool and beach area require one to jury-rig a screw to just hold the umbrellas open,. The sunbeds aren't cleaned and practically all of the cushions are torn so badly that they can't stay on the sunbeds. The restaurant is below average, the breakfast is below average and if you order any drink, it'll be mixed completely differently each time you do so. It's not the worst place I've been, but it's no where near the quality one would expect and certainly the worst place I've seen in this price range. As for safety, COVID rules are followed by some of the staff, but not by all (some seem to take pride in disobeying them) and mixed with the poor cleaning, I can't call this a safe place to go right now.

Unfortunately our stay at the Plaza Resort was not very pleasant. Beginning, the receptionist was keeping on picking up the phone whilst she was trying to check us in. She didn’t pay attention, had our reservation dates wrong and wasn’t able to make the card reader work so she had to get her manager. We booked the ‚family suite‘ (295€) what turned out to be one room with three single beds - what felt more like a dorm than a suite. Also one side of the hotel has the most amazing view over the garden and the sea. The other side just looks onto the parking lot and has a ridiculous „balcony“ which is literally 50 cm wide. When we had breakfast we got the food from the buffett and tried to order drinks. None of the staff came to get our order. When we tried to talk to the person making the coffee, she rudely sent us away and said we should wait until the staff comes to the table. We waved and tried to draw attention from the staff but only after 40 minutes when we had already finished the breakfast somebody came to take our order. The coffee included in the breakfast comes from an automatic machine and was a disgrace. When you want actual coffee you have to pay extra. At the beach we ordered club sandwiches. Not only were they heavily overpriced but we also had to wait 45 minutes to have them arrive in single use plastic boxes with the potatoes almost raw. Also the coffee and cocktails are overpriced and not even that tasty. Over all we were so upset, that we left the hotel early after just two nights. The room, the service and the prices were disappointing. A huge let down and not at all meeting the inquiries of a five star hotel. We will certainly not come back and we can not recommend to stay here.

Food is good.. Great location.. Reception staff not very friendly. Door staff are very helpful.. House keeping staff with not good English to deal with.. No spa,no information desk to help you to move around Athens.. Only one English TV channel.. All channels are Greek. Mosquitoes,,Mosquitoes..

Dated and tired. Staff are polite and attentive but the place is in need of a huge renovation. Comfortable rooms, everything is clean but for the price you'd probably expect something a bit more modern. The beach in front is great. We were a couple, probably wouldn't go again but seemed good for families.

I stayed in Plaza for a business trip, unfortunately I can't recommend the experience to anyone. We had dinner in a hotel restaurant and there we three of us by the table. When we finished and waiter brought the bill I did not check the amount and just signed it expecting it belongs to our table (my miskate and lesson learned). When I checked out from the hotel I found out there were items on the bill including bottles of wine, which we did not have (they claimed there were 5 of us by the table, but in fact the waiter mixed/merged 2 tables including the table next to us). Finally I agreed with a hotel manager to pay just for the items we actually consumed and left the hotel. A shock came when I got back home and my card used for reservation was charged additional hundreds of EUR. I also received an mail from the hotel that after "investigation" they charge me all the items on the bill. Please be careful not to fall into the same trap I did.

The hotel looks brand new, room was very clean and comfortable. I wish there was a kettle or coffee machine. Breakfast is great with lots of choice and good quality. The pool and beach area is great! Staff speak very good English and where helpful.
