Very beautiful scenery. The road from Larissa to there, very bad, all bends and very tiring.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Polyfytos dam is located 30 km east to Kozani on Haliacmon river, between Sfikia Dam (12 km northeast) and Ilarionas dam (18 km southwest).
The dam, type of embankment dam (earthen dam), has a height of 112 m, and a length of 296 m and its completion led to the creation of Polifito artificial lake, (2,224 square kilometers).
The project was completed in 1974 and it was made for three purposes: power generation (capacity of 375 MW), water supply & irrigation.
The road leading to the dam is a narrow and winding. It is possible to cross over the dam, but the appearance of the dam is slightly disappointing as it reminds huge dike of soil.
If you pass in the area, don't miss the remarkable bridge of Servia Neraida that crosses the lake12 km southwest.
