A beautiful tranquil setting for food and drinks in a small village built from stone to show how cretans used to live. The restaurant / village shows various aspects of how cretans history eg looming, milling, wells, cooking, religion etc. Stunning panoramic views of the area from roof top terraces and excellent food.

This is a must see café is very unique to the island of Crete. Located in the city of Kalives, Crete near Chania, I visit every summer in Greece. It also has a small church. Cafe Koumos is my favorite café in Crete. Only if you are a tourist but a place that locals visit.

It's like a vernacular Gaudi. Strange sculpture-like buildings, full of rocky detailing. It's a scenography of stone, dressed up as a resort. Definitely a must-see is you're in the area, if not for the beauty of it, then just for the sheer weirdness.

A great, traditional place with its own history due to it's all hand built. A place to drink your coffee or eat a meal or snack, all of them Cretan specialties and travel to an era of the past and learn a lot about the way old Cretans used to live. If you're interested in more than just the tourist spots, it's a must.

Great place to visit with your family. There is a small church first and then an incredible vast area full of imaginative creative art is displayed in every corner you turn. There are plenty of artifacts incorporated in this extraordinary building. It even has a replica / re enactment of how and where Cretians were making their cheese. It's a lovely place to visit also a restaurant is open and the staff are very polite .

What a fantastic find off the beaten track. Such a great atmosphere at this restaurant. Outdoor seating. Greek music playing in the background. Views over the olive grove, with the white mountains backdrop. The food was the best meal we’ve had in Crete. The stewed lamb was incredible, rich flavour like it had been slow cooked for hours. The dakos was also delicious. Generous serving size and very reasonable prices (dakos was 3 euro versus other touristy areas charging 5+ euro). Definitely recommend this place if in the area.

A unique place created by one hard working man: A house, A church and a huge recreative area. The restaurant makes delicious food and you can enjoy it in one of the cozy areas. A must Wien you visit the Chania/ Kalyves regions!

A big restaurant literally built out of stone! The church at the entrance is also completely made of stone. Even tables and table legs! The food, of course, is very tasty. You are also free to walk around the restaurant and view various exhibitions about the island's ethnography. The surrounding views are amazing too! It is definitely worth visiting place, where you can stay for a couple of hours to enjoy the nature of Crete in unusual setting!
