Rex Hotel Kalambaka - 7

Very clean and nice hotel with amazing view in Meteora.The rooms were big and clean. We stayed in that hotel for 3 nights me and my family, and everything was perfect.We warm recommend Hotel REX in Meteora.

Stayed for 2 nights. Great location. Can walk to multiple restaurants and cute shops. Be sure to eat at YAMAS and PUB38. Amazing food Multiple coffee shops in the area. Room is comfortable with great view to the rocks . Staff extremely helpful. We needed to change our train ticket to an earlier time because the weather was bad (snow) and they went above and beyond to help us. Would recommend anyone to stay at thishotel if visiting meteora.

Positive: Reception was very friendly and kind, making us feel very comfortable and welcome. The location is right in front of one of the monasteries and close to Meteora. It's nerby many restaurants, a nice bakery and also local tavernas where they will speak perfect English without any problem..

Positive: Everything was top notch. Room was clean and modern, I even got a balcony with a great view on Meteora. Great experience, closer to 4 stars than 3..

Hotel was overbooked. We were given a room with a terrible toilet. Dimly lit, crammed, insecticide smell, warm water with little to no pressure. To be fair, room was decent and simple and refurbished. But toilet was unacceptable and not what was published online. We tried to request to change rooms but reception staff curtly said that they were fully booked.

The location is very good. Nearby restaurants are at your convenience, oh so tasty! The staff is friendly. BTW they speak Romanian along with English. Don't forget to ask for the air-conditioner remote control at the reception, for some reason they aren't in the rooms :-), I can't explain that. The bathroom is so tiny, the shower doesn't have the curtains long enough, so be prepared to have the floor in the bathroom flooded :-), don't worry, though, there is a drain in the middle of the room, and you don't flood the folks on the prev floor. Overall, it is good anyway.

APPALLING TREATMENT BUT IN THE END WAS RESOLVED BY MANAGER (hence 2 stars as they did apologize. Otherwise, would be 1 star). This review is for travellers by a traveller in order to help you out and give you an honest review. The hotel was booked for us by Meteora thrones company and so we had no control over booking it. I would avoid for next time. While the hotel itself was okay (breakfast btw is nothing special and this is NOT a 3 star hotel, its more like a 2 star), we were treated horribly by one of the members: the wife of the hotel owner/manager. It made us feel this was because we were POCs. We paid their tourist tax on the night on checkin yet were accused of not paying it the next morning and she wouldn't believe us. She made a phonecall to her colleague and finally confirmed that we had indeed paid. Then she refused to give us change for the locker to lock our stuff in so my old father had to walk all the way down the street to get change (after buying a bottle of water). Then machine took our coin and failed to lock. The lady said it wasn't her fault and that the locker isn't hers. Refused to return the 2 euros coin to us and basically said its your problem. She said to leave our stuff in the open/she'll watch it but we didnt want that since the luggage had our cash and laptop and passport etc. We made a special stop on the way back from the tour to confront her and her husband was very nice and reasonable and heard us. He apologized, then she apologized as well, so I considered it resolved. I must say the day of checkin, the other staff lady was very kind, welcoming, and nice. She did offer an early checkin, otherwise we would have to wait 3 hours in the lobby! She also helped a lot with keeping us on track for the tour times. Plus like mentioned above, the hotel owner/manager is a very nice and reasonable man, appreciate his handling of the situation.

Very nice hotel, with many rooms looking towards Meteora offering a great view. The room service is very good and ideal for resting and even a drink on the balcony. Good prices too.
