As a family of three (5yo child), we booked the long (7-8h) kayaking route down the Nestos river. Last time was over ten years ago. The website still has all the information one needs re starting point, programme etc. Great organisation, professional guides, extreme attention to safety and process, but without spoiling the fun! Lots of information on flora and fauna during the descent and lots of bird watching. Fantastic food during the two breaks, lots of photos taken by the guides, and great team bonding. Overall Exceptional value for money, our daughter loves it and wants to go back! Shout out to Dimitris, Efi and Panos for being such amazing guides!

Now that was fun!! ? We were looking for a special holiday activity for us and our two 14 y/o teenagers, and found the Nestos Rafting Tour to be the perfect combination of enjoying the beautiful Greek nature with a splash of adventure. And we weren't disappointed! The booking process via telephone with Christina was perfect, all our questions were answered and a pdf with all relevant infos sent beforehand - including a Google Maps link for the meeting point in Paranesti. There, we were greeted by the super friendly staff, and our Captain for the day, Georgios, even spoke German. After having been supplied with life vests, helmets and neoprene shoes (we were also offered full body neoprene suits, but we thought the 9 °C Nestos water would be refreshing on a 37 °C day ?). So off we went in a trusty vintage Mercedes mini bus (which originally must have served in the Netherlands in the previous millenium, as some window stickers read 'Nooduitgang'), and after a short ride of about 10 mins we arrived at the cool and shady river bank where we'd embark for our journey. With us was another family of four from Cyprus - including their grandma of about 75 years! (To say it in advance: She also enjoyed the trip, and arrived with us safe and all smiles in Paranesti. So you see this tour is really doable for almost everyone). Georgios gave us a thorough instruction, and even as first time rafters we felt fit and ready to conquer the Nestos river then ?‍☠️. We hopped into the boat, did a quick practice round in calm waters - and started our 9 km trip downstream. To make an almost too long story short: It was a fantatstic experience! Thanks to Georgios in the back, we always felt safe, had fun in the waves and enjoyed the calm passages and the quiet. While most of the time the river does the job, some rowing by the crew is required, appr. for about 1/3 of the time. So the water bottles supplied by Riverland were much appreciated. Though the air on the river is nice and cool, often with a light breeze, the Greek sun still does its job - so don't forget a proper sunscreen ? We say thanks to the Riverland team for the great day - we're sure we'll try another experience in the future!

Great activities from a well-organized and professional team. The location at Nestos river is breathtaking and guarantees a unique and rewarding outdoor experience no matter what you choose. Highly recommended for tourists and locals alike!

This was one of the best wilderness experiences we've ever had. The team at Riverland Outdoor Activities are the most organised, professional and safety-conscious in the area. Above all, they're friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to make sure their customers have a great day. These are the things that were important to us that we want to share: If you're kayaking, The Riverland Team provide wetsuits, thermal protection and life vests. These are all in excellent condition and are cleaned with an antibacterial solution after every use, for at least 24 hours, which we were very relieved to hear. Be mindful of your valuables and anything that you would be devastated to lose in the water. The Riverland Team provide watertight containers that will protect your things. The guides will take plenty of photos for you and will share them with you via email inclusive with your ticket fee. The Nestos River has many different sections and certain currents can be unpredictable and can flip you into the water, which is an experience in itself! If that happens, be cool, the guides are experts and will help you. Included in the ticket fee, the team also provide snacks, tea/coffee and a light lunch all which are fresh and catered to dietary needs. Overall, these people are the best at what they do.
