T	Tom - Karanikas on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Άγιος Γεώργιος Επάνω στην οχυρωμένη ακρόπολη, ΒΑ του χωριού, βρίσκεται ο ναός του Αγίου Γεωργίου. Ο ναός είναι τρίκλιτη ξυλόστεγη βασιλική με μεταγενέστερο εσωνάρθηκα και εξωνάρθηκα. Εκ πρώτης όψεως έχουμε την εντύπωση ότι πρόκειται για μεταβυζαντινό μνημείο, ωστόσο το σύνθρονο, το τρίβολο παράθυρο στο ιερό, οι τοξωτές κιονοστοιχίες που χωρίζουν τα κλίτη, η βυζαντινή επιγραφή στον δυτικό τοίχο, καθώς και πολλά άλλα στοιχεία δηλώνουν ότι ο ναός είναι κτίσμα της βυζαντινής περιόδου. Σύμφωνα με τον Καθηγητή Α. Πετρονώτη παρουσιάζει γνωρίσματα ΙΑ-ΙΒ αιώνων (11 – 12ο αιώνα). Άλλοι ερευνητές σχολιάζουν πως τον 10ο αιώνα έγινε ανακαίνιση, γεγονός που σημαίνει πως εκεί υπήρχε προβυζαντινός ναός. Οι τοιχογραφίες που κοσμούν το εσωτερικό του ναού διασώζονται σε δυο στρώματα και χρονολογούνται σύμφωνα με επιγραφές που υπάρχουν κατά τα έτη 1611 και 1615. Η πρώτη χρονολογία αναγράφεται επάνω από την δεξιά παραστάδα του Αγίου Βήματος, ενώ η δεύτερη αναγράφεται στο κιονόκρανο κάτω από την επίστεψη. Κάποια από τα σημαντικά γνωρίσματα του μοναδικού σε ομορφιά ναού είναι τα παρακάτω. Ακριβώς πάνω από την κεντρική πόρτα βρίσκεται μια σπάνια νοηματική πλίνθινη γραφή. Η επιγραφή εντοιχισμένη στον πέτρινο τοίχο περικλείεται σε κεραμικό πλαίσιο μήκους 2,18 μ., με ύψος 0,15μ., τα γράμματά της συνίστανται από κεραμικά τεμάχια, ευθύγραμμα ή καμπύλα (τα τελευταία λαξευμένα σε κεραμίδια), με ελάχιστη διακοσμητική διάθεση. Τα σπάνια συμβολικά νοήματα αυτού του διακόσμου, που συνδέονται με προφητικά οράματα της μεσοβυζαντινής περιόδου, παρέχουν την αφορμή για τον συσχετισμό του ναού αυτού με άλλους ιστορικούς ναούς της Θεσσαλίας, που παρουσιάζουν την ίδια μακραίωνη ιστορία, ενώ λειτουργούν μέχρι σήμερα. Σύμφωνα με την έρευνα του Καθηγητή Αργύρη Πετρονώτη χρονολογείται ανάμεσα στον 9ο και 11ο αιώνα μ.Χ. και η ερμηνεία της φαίνεται παρακάτω. Μπαίνοντας κανείς μέσα στο ναό συναντά δυο πράσινες κολώνες από έναν μοναδικής αξίας λίθο. Πρόκειται για τον πράσινο Θεσσαλικό λίθο, από τα λατομεία της Χασάμπαλης (Συκούριο), Στον ναό πραγματοποιείται λειτουργία την Δεύτερη ημέρα του Πάσχα και στις 3 Νοεμβρίου ( Saint George On the fortified acropolis, NE of the village, is the church of Agios Georgios. The church is a three-aisled wooden-roofed basilica with a later inner and outer narthex. At first glance we have the impression that this is a post-Byzantine monument, however the synthron, the three-tiered window in the sanctuary, the arched colonnades that separate the aisles, the Byzantine inscription on the west wall, and many other elements indicate that the church is a Byzantine building period. According to Professor A. Petronotis, it presents features of IA-IB centuries (11th - 12th century). Other scholars comment on the fact that it was renovated in the 10th century, which means that there was a pre-Byzantine temple there. The frescoes that adorn the interior of the church are preserved in two layers and are dated according to inscriptions that exist during the years 1611 and 1615. The first date is written above the right pillar of the Holy Step, while the second is written on the capital under the crown. Some of the important features of the unique temple in beauty are the following. Just above the main door is a rare semantic brick writing. The inscription built into the stone wall is enclosed in a ceramic frame 2.18 m long, 0.15 m high, its letters consist of ceramic pieces, straight or curved (the last carved in tiles), with minimal decorative mood. The rare symbolic meanings of this decoration, associated with prophetic visions of the mid-Byzantine period, provide the reason for the association of this church with other historical temples of Thessaly, which present the same long history, while operating to this day. According to the research of Professor Argyris Petronotis, it dates between the 9th and 11th centuries AD. and its interpretation is shown below. Entering the temple one encounters two green columns of a stone of unique value. Μέσα υπάρχουν 2 κίονες από πράσινο θεσσαλικό λίθο και γενικότερα είναι απ'τα σημαντικότερα αξιοθέατα του Δομένικου. O.
