A very charming and simple place, the food and service were fantastic! We went twice in our 1 week stay in Athens. Saligaros is Greek for snails.

Unexpected find. Kind of sketchy area of town , but no problems. Cretan based menu. Best sheep (lamb) patty I had in Greece. Really good house red too.

Pros: - best sheep I've ever had - service was wonderful, and the pair that worked there were very friendly. - tagliolini was amazing - close to the National Archeological Museum Cons: NA Like some other reviews mention, they gave us free shots when we sat down, which was a nice touch. I asked our waitress what their specialty was, and she said she didn't speak good English (her English was good, actually), and got the chef(?) from inside to chat with us. He told me the sheep meatball was their specialty, so I got that and my girlfriend got a tagliolini. The meatball was quite large, more like a patty. It was easily the best sheep I've ever had, nice and fatty, cooked perfectly. The mustard sauce they gave on the side was a great addition to the dish, and really brought out the flavor in the meat. The tagliolini was great as well, seasoned nicely. We sat there for an hour or two, just chatting, and sometimes chatting with the staff as well, they were super friendly and personable. The restaurant itself is off the main path, we walked there after visiting the National Museum, and it wasn't crowded at all. The prices were cheap, and the food was heavenly, highly recommend.

A nice place to have ouzo in the center of Athens. If you plan to go on Friday or Saturday night, go early because this place is packed! A nice place to visit for the progressive liberal tourist visiting Athens.

Tasty and cheap food. The place doesn't look any special but the service is good and it is very chill.
