The present tower replaced an old Byzantine fortification, known to have been mentioned around the 12th century, that the Ottoman Empirereconstructed to fortify the city's harbour sometime after Sultan Murad II captured Thessaloniki in 1430. The tower became a notorious prison and scene of mass executions during the period of Ottoman rule

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nothing really special. The tower is well-preserved and restored. But it's basically a square tower of no specific beauty. And you can't enter inside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Tower is closed at present. Nice view. Plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. Would have eaten here to try out different Greek foods...... but have half board at the hotel and therefore not a good idea of gluttony!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a great historical monument. Very hard to find something similar at Halkidiki region. Byzantine tower of Apostle Paul at Nea Fokea, built at 1407. Really old....a must visit monument at a great location with magnificent vies of the Aegean Sea.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Church and Tower very good condition, but still under renovation. Just off Hwy 24 take road to coast. Go thru town to see the buildings. The church is open. But the tower is closed. On a hill beside the beach. Many cafe's and restaurants around. If you go back into the town they have other sites connected to St Paul.
