★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nikiana Beach Club is run by Seafarer who offer by far the best value of any beach club in Lefkas or for that matter most other Greek Islands. I was a little anxious being a solo traveler but felt comfortable immediately on arrival - and indeed ended up extending my stay from two weeks to a whole month. I was very rusty sailing-wise so started from scratch and did levels 1,2 and 3. The sailing tuition was outstandingly good, patient and empathetic. Joe and his beach team were kind, generous and did their best to make everyone feel welcome.
I must put in a word of praise for the instructors who work 12-13 hour days to get the equipment ready, running courses, providing excellent safety coverage and then put the boats away each evening. They work extremely hard - perhaps too hard for their own well-being.
The atmosphere at Nikiana is unique. The accommodation and catering is modest but works very well. The small team of lovely beach catering staff also work extremely hard and the demand sometimes meant delays in food arriving but on the whole the food and especially wine was good value.
The sailing team coped well given that some of the boats had maintenance issues that indicates maybe a lack of adequate head-office budget beyond their control. I personally would have been happy to pay a little more - some boats had worn running rigging and worn jammers/cleats, but on the whole the equipment was pretty good.
Further praise for Robby who is a very gifted and empathetic beach manager/chief instructor. The rest of the team: Amy, Andy, Connor, Carys, Daryl, Hannah, Merry, Michael, Rachel and others were warm, helpful and encouraging. It is they who are the heart of Nikiana and their dedication and expertise made my stay a huge pleasure. My thanks to all of them, and to Dimitra and Joe who patiently made arrangements to extend my stay.
My only criticism is the tiny pool, which desperately needs re-designing. Despite Daryl's valiant efforts to keep it clean, it had to be closed rather too often due to its inability to deal with pollution caused by too many people swimming with sweaty t-shirts or unwashed suncream. There would be space for a much better pool along the southern end of the complex.
Given the exceptional value of Nikiana, there is little else to complain of. Seafarer has created a lovely spot which avoids the corporate feel of Nielson and other beach clubs, and provides an intimate and cosy setting where friendly customers can build a rapport with like-minded others. I particularly enjoyed the first and last week when I made some genuine good friendships.
Well done all the team. You made my holiday one to remember. I recommend buying ice creams for the instructors. It keeps them cool and happy during a long day!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have many fond memories of our holidays in Nikiana. From 2015 to 2017 we had some great times sailing there. Nikiana, unlike Nidri, is an unspoilt, small town with all you need and no more. A beautiful location.
However Seafarers decision to takeover the catering and bar has, in my opinion, ripped out the heart and sole of this small, family run hotel.
We will not return, and maybe not sail again.
