Στις εγκαταστάσεις του έδρευε κάτω από γαλλική διοίκηση το Διασυμμαχικό Κέντρο Εκπαιδεύσης στην Ανατολή (Centre d’entraînement des armées alliées en Orient). Είναι μάλιστα πιθανό η ονομασία Σέδες να προήλθε από τη σύντμηση του γαλλικού Centre D’ Entrainement (CE, D, E) με την προσθήκη του ελληνικού τελικού S.
Το Αεροδρόμιο Σέδες είναι ένα ιστορικό αεροδρόμιο με ιστορία περίπου 90 ετών και άρρηκτα συνδεδεμένο με το μεγαλύτερο και ενδοξότερο τμήμα της Πολεμικής Αεροπορίας. Αποτελεί τόσο για την Πολεμική Αεροπορία όσο και για την Ελλάδα ένα ζωντανό αεροπορικό μουσείο. Ο διάδρομος του Σέδες 110 Ο.Μ. είναι ο μοναδικός σε χρήση διάδρομος στην Ευρώπη που είναι στρωμένος με μεταλλικά πλέγματα PSP, που προέρχονταν από το Σχέδιο Μάρσαλ
Its history dates back to the Balkan Wars, when it was first used by the French and Greek Squadrons. At its headquarters was the French Center for Allied Training in the East (Center d’entraînement des armées alliées en Orient). In fact, it is possible that the name Sedes came from the abbreviation of the French Center D’Entrainement (CE, D, E) with the addition of the Greek final S.
Sedes Airport is a historic airport with a history of about 90 years and inextricably linked to the largest and most glorious section of the Air Force. It is a living aviation museum for both the Air Force and Greece. The corridor of Sedes 110 O.M. is the only used treadmill in Europe that is layered with PSP metal mesh, which came from the Marshall Plan
