Great Villa great location, lovely owners. The pool was warm enough to swim in too at Easter utilising Solar heating. Also try 3 excellent restaurants in Plaka , 1 minute beyond Almyrida. Best beach we liked was at Plantanos. Rethimnon quaint and worth a visit.

Nice contact and serious and professional booking process (every question get answered quickly!) - so actually everything in best shape........ Our main reason for booking sophias Villa was the heated pool in October especially for our Little son. Altough the host was in house herself until 2 days before we arrived the heating System did´nt work at all. We could see pool-temperature droping down rapidly within one week at least the host did´nt deny the deficit. But to offer the guests (maybe!!) a Discount for another stay as a "GUESTURE OF GOODWILL" is less than this - its a lousy and stingy guesture without taking any responsibility

Sophia's villa was great. Very clean and well looked after. The surrounding area was lovely and the views were amazing. The villa was very well equipped with little extras which made a real difference. The owners where great to deal with and we definitely hope to return in the future.

I wintered at Sophia's house for three months and couldn't have had a nicer time. Though the resort town of Almyrida was mostly deserted, the quiet and slow pace was nice and much needed. I enjoyed some r&r in a beautiful setting and, as this was a working holiday for me, the sometimes rainy winter weather was not a problem. I didn't rent a car and was fine walking everywhere, whether to the great little shop, Pear Tree, in downtown Almyrida to pick up groceries, or to nearby Kalyves and Gavalochori for a change of scenery. There are lovely hiking trails along the coastline, so no need to venture into the sometimes scary traffic if you're looking to have a nice walk. I also caught the bus into Chania to spend some of my days sketching alongside the stunning Venetian harbor. However, my favorite thing about the visit was definitely the house and its surroundings. Beautiful full kitchen and bathroom, and a comfortable living room and bedrooms. I daringly tried to use the pool twice, but the water was freezing, which is understandable, it being winter and all. My favorite place of all was the roof, where I spent most sunny afternoons working until the sunset fell over the sea. I even enjoyed spending some of the warmer evenings star-gazing. It was simply a wonderful place to be. I highly recommend Sophia's House to anyone looking to visit an idyllic Cretian village. Ruth was an absolute delight to deal with, and even had WIFI installed for me once I'd arrived. I hope to visit again in the summer, as I'm sure the beaches come alive. Although it is nice in the winter to have them all to yourself.

We had a fantastic stay at the villa. Everything was just as described; the villa had everything we needed and was more spacious than expected. The views are fantastic, the pool was great and the walk into town was just about right although a taxi ride back after plenty of free raki was welcome (cost about 7 euros in April). Would love to go back.

This beautiful villa accommodation in Crete has a fully equipped kitchen, living room with tv/dvd & stereo, full bathroom, outside terraces including upper sun terrace. The pool terrace is completely private and is not overlooked, the villa has the most outstanding views across the valley below to Souda Bay. We stayed here a couple of times and loved it.
