★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Yesterday after work, took the family at a remote cantine outside the town of Spata, in Mesogaia area in Attica prefecture. The owner, a former carpenter, with his wife on the grill. The produce are his own, lamb meat, cheese, yogurt-tzatziki, his own potatoes, veal and chicken from local farmers, olive oil and olives from his trees. Tomatoes and veggies from Kea (Tzia) island, wine from the local savatiano variety.
No wonder is called "at the olive trees", ( Στις ελιές). Started with beef liver with just fleur de sel, (ανθός αλατιού), black pepper, olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Followed by a Ntakos salad covered in green olives, feta cheese and diced tomatoes. Pan fried hand cut chips. A plate of veal steaks and a plate of pork neck steaks, tzatziki sauce, slices of bread slightly covered in olive oil, course salt and oregano on the grill, and a plate of chicken kebab marinated in orange mustard sauce. Of course lots of white wine savatiano variety of Mesogaia area. Sometimes Greece is discovered in the most unseen and forgotten places !
