Probably the best place to eat here in the region. Taste home-cooked food - you won’t be disappointed.

The best food we have had in Crete, with an excellent view too. You absolutely must eat here if you are passing by. Service was excellent and our hosts were lovely. Even as vegetarians, we found that there were more than enough options, and all of them tasted wonderful

Great scene under giant trees and passing by a small river! An oasis of coolness among the warm weather. Although we had a light lunch (Greek salad, yogurt and orange fresh juice), we really enjoyed it. People were very pleasant and friendly!

Magic place under the great Plane trees. The host was very welcoming. I had salad with greens from the host's own garden, it was delicious, real nature on the plate. My husband had bean's stew, which was wonderful as well. Local cheese that host had recommended was amazingly flavoursome. We were treated to the free raki and a desert at the end. Have to say raki looked clearer then the spring water? and tasted great. The house wine was also home made with lovely notes of sherry. Really authentic Cretan meal. Thank you so much, recommend it!!!!

Randomly stumbled across this place on our drive from the Botanical Gardens. Looked neat so we stopped. The woman who served us, the cook and presumably the owner, was wonderful. More importantly though, the food was incredible. We had the lamb, and I don’t like lamb but figured if I’m here and it’s the speciality. Wow, it was amazing. The slow roasted vegetable, which were grown in her garden, we’re also amazing. The cheese they offer with the vegetables is a massive chunk. At the end, they give you enough Raki to sustain a small army. Seats are under beautiful trees and you’re so far away from towns it’s very peaceful. You’re also a short walk away from a stunning gorge. Highly recommend this place.

We were driving around the local spots outside of Chania city centre and came across this beautiful church. Whilst walking around the church we saw this tavern and decided to stop in for lunch. What a great decision. Felt like your grandma was cooking homemade food for you with love and tender care. We got half a litre of local wine, mixed vegetables and the lamb with potatoes (which is what we would call fries). Everything was so well seasoned and cooked in amazing sauces. The hand picked vegetables from their garden were so good, if I had dishes like that at home, I would be a vegetarian. The lamb fell off the bone and was so juicy, and I don’t like lamb at all. But I would get it again! If you find this tavern on your travels, please stop in!
