★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have not tried every restaurant in Kitries but I am confident that this is one of the best. As the name suggests, it is situated on top of a hill offering beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding area. Even at night, the port of Kalamata and the surrounding mountains are pleasant to look at.
The food is more imaginative and more carefully prepared than in the average Greek taverna in the area. This is no accident, since the owners raise their own animals and cultivate vegetables, olives, and olive oil.
I highly recommend the stuffed peppers (kerato) with cheese and bacon, the pasto (smoked port), the mousaka, the paidakia, and the pork in the oven. I am sure there are more excellent dishes I did not have a chance to try. The prices are great for the value.
Unfortunately, the owner's creativity does not extend to the selection of beer and wine. I am beginning to think that bad wine is a trademark of Mani.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This restaurant captured the magic of summer in Greece. Situated on the top of an olive grove with a sunset view of the sea, it’s a fantastic place to enjoy dinner. We thought service was fast and polite, food was good with some new dishes we hadn’t seen before. Their bread and olive oil is produced in house. We even bought a few bottles to bring home. Worth a stop if you’re in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great service! The boy (he was about 12) spoke great English and nothing was too much trouble. The food was delicious! I couldn't get enough of the ochre. Well worth a visit for the sunset views - breath- taking! Don't follow the sat nav though - follow the signs for the restaurant.
