The staff is super friendly, very responsive to our requests and needs. The hotel supports local artists and local health food brands, hence the unique design items and the very special selection of snacks offered in the rooms.

We chose to stay at The Modernist due to a great review on one of the main UK papers and the enthusiastic individual reviews across multiple platforms. Not only were we not disappointed but they managed to exceed our high expectations. The hotel is beautiful, tasteful and located in the great Kolonaki neighbourhood, buzzing with cafés and restaurants, and only a 30-min walk to the Acropolis but, at the same time, a safe distance from any potential tourist chaos. We were lucky enough to stay at their Extra Large room with a jacuzzi and a wraparound balcony with great views. The room was stocked with pre-mixed cocktails and great quality snacks, drinks, espresso machine, etc. They also have a nice room service menu with lovely healthy bowls and more cocktails :) Leaving the best for last, what really makes The Modernist a great hotel is its people. Every single person we came across was brilliant and had that effortless Greek hospitality about them. Everyone behaved as if they were hosting dear friends in their own homes. To name a few: Konstantinos, Yannis, Iliana, Maria, Vasilia (sorry if spelled wrong), Dimitri, Manos. You’re all fantastic, thank you so much for you kindness and for making our stay so special.

The rooms were very clean, they provided us with a food bowl and bed for our dog, as well as a balcony. Location was incredible, right in the center of Thesalloniki and easy access to everything. Highly recommend!!

Booked an XL room, it was my 4th times in Athens and it is just the best hotel in the best location with one of a best view and great price/value point. Service was amazing, all the extras in the room where amazing. Turntable, Polaroid, it makes it such a nice experience. Breakfast is included and delicious. The view from the rooftop is incredible for both sunset and at night. You are perfectly positioned next to Koulonaki and walking distance to most historical sites. Do not hesitate just go!…

When I arrived in Athens I was very overwhelmed as it was my first travel alone and out of my country, but the staff were so kind and supportive from the start. The view from the roof is breathtaking and it’s so nice to be able to sit out there watching the sunrise/sunset with the ability to order great food and drinks. I booked a medium room but it felt so spacious and comfortable and included a large shower that was definitely appreciated after several hours in the summer heat. The balcony was certainly a plus especially as it led out to a nice view where I could even see a small bit of the Acropolis. As well, there was a sizable smart television that helped make that adjustment with jet lag insomnia easier. This is truly my favorite hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying at and it makes me even more excited to someday visit Athens again. I cannot thank the modernist team enough for providing me with such a wonderful stay.
