There are so many good restaurants on the island, but this is absoltely the worst... we had to buy some Metaxa after dinner to avoid stomache ache. I‘m sorry!

You cannot get more real than this. If your into sophistication pass it by but if your into real food served and cooked by real people then this is definitely the place. We visited in June 2015. An absolute delight.

The River Taverna is located on the right hand side of the road that leads the main road along the south coast to the beach below. It is indicated by a sign. You have to go down a long staircase and then walk along a path that goes through the kitchen garden of the tavern. The service is most friendly by a very sweet and modest man who is also the owner. We ate here a few times because it was very good. All the food is fresh and made on the spot, the portions are ample. The first time we got even such large portions that we had few dishes packed up to take home. We tried during our visits the zucchini balls, spinach pies, the River Salad (very nica and a huge bowl), the tzatziki, stuffed cabbage leaves, fries and rocket salad with walnuts and Parmesan cheese. As desert they gave us some home made ice cream! Everything was fantastic and the prices are quite right: highly recommended.
P	Poonami 123 on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Family taverna, a little hidden from the road. Very quiet and simple. The food is fresh and delicious. Try the octopus and their River salade. Fish always fresh and most vegetables from own garden. Friendly staff. Nice price. Inside plenty of seats (groups)

A friendly welcome and a good menu, giving a chance to order a selection of food to share rather than one meal each. The best chicken souvlaki of our trip and excellent sausages! Thoroughly recommended.

The setting was beautiful, the food delicious, service excellent and price was great. The whole menu looks good and I would eat it all if I could. The homemade wine was delicious and even the raki served at the end tasted nice! This place is a must to visit. I would recommend the octopus in wine sauce.
