★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A Greek cultural icon. This style of place (both a grocery store and an eating establishment) are fast disappearing.
The Special is fourth generation family owned, steeped in character with walls loaded with photographs of famous Greek personalities who have graced this place, politicians, actors, journalists, musicians, anybody who is/was a somebody in Greece wants to say they've been here, and you should too.
The food is basic, but made very well and from scratch. The retsina here is also good. If you are lucky and here on a weekend you may also get to enjoy live music.
This is not an easy place to get to but if you have the chance to come you must before it is gone. There won't be another one like it ever again.

However, the dishes and the service was basic and I found it overpriced! Just to give you an idea a small basic kayanas costs 8 euros. I didn't feel like they were caring enough to provide the flavors and the experience. More of an overhyped tavern. It was only about the place not the people and experience. It's a pity.
