The theatre seems to be renovated recently and in general it is in an excellent condition. I sat on the same spot for over an hour and a half and couldn't believe how comfy it was. Of course the play was absolutely stunning and I lost track of time.

My first impression of the lobby was excellent! The theater inside was also great since it's amphitheatre style was allowing full visibility from wherever sited. The play was great, too!

Recently I went to see The Comedy of Interpretation (William Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors) directed by Katerina Evangelatou at the New Theater of Katerina Vassilakou People said to me: Why are you going to see a play in Greek? Many reasons. I have been producing, directing, acting and writing for the theater and for film, since I can remember. It’s right up there with hazy images of my mom and crawling among the dandelions. Greece is the home of theater. I have been told that there are over 100 small theater venues in Athens. The mere existence of that many theaters is a huge cultural achievement. I asked Greek friends for some recommendations. I wanted to see something highly visual (definitely not people sitting around in chairs). The Comedy of Interpretation was recommended. It was perfect not only because I was familiar with the story but the whole point of the piece is that you are supposed to be confused anyways. The basis for the presentation is founded in the Commdia della arte of the 16th century. Commdia is a wildly comic form that Shakespeare was well familiar with and drew inspiration from. This was the perfect launching pad for Evangelatou’s unbridled interpretation. The show begins in a blazing kaleidoscope of color. The actors are in whiteface with clown makeup drawn from the Italian tradition. The costumes brought to mind the designs of The Ballet Russes of the early 20th century, a kind of wearable architecture. The set is two bisecting mirrored walls with a revolving door in the middle. The entire structure spins and provides an unending sea of options for entrances and exits both true and false. The actors provide the sound effects, a panoply of bells, whistles, gongs, squawking horns and balloon farts. The sound design is a combination of the classic and the contemporary. It creates a digital frame that evokes the ages while rooting us in the present. English speakers if you want to dip your toes into contemporary Greek culture this is the perfect entry point. If you are willing step slightly out of your comfort zone you will be rewarded. Before you go refamiliarize yourself with the plot. You will see some of the worlds most highly trained, skilled, inventive, actors and actresses. You will see the work of a brilliant young director who is destined for great things and you laugh like you never have before.

A theater down town Athens, located in the historical Kerameikos area.It is one of the most beautiful ,regarging interior design ,halls. Nice ,clean, warm atmosphere, vibrant colors, luxurious fouaye , offering even the faschility of few tables to enjoy a beverage, snack or coffee prior to the play. The seats of the theater are very near to the stage and on top of that someone can have best views of the ongoing play regardless where he is sitting.Staff is friendly and very helpful regarding the procedure to help you spot your seat. Parking is an issue as the area is down town and crowded but the overall experience was nice.

The performance was great, Alan Turing, which creates positive feelings also for the place. Not the coziest theatre visited but everything were as expected and control for covid was strict which was much appreciated. The seats could have been a bit more comfortable, especially at the back.
