Nice landscape, if u like hiking and it do not take long time to access there from Imerovigli. If lucky, u can also see some donkeies who are working along the path.

Amazing views of the Caldera while walking. When on Santorini, and you're physically ok, you have to make this hike. I took a bus from Oia to Fira and hiked the 11 km back in about 4 hours. The last hill, you can use a donkey if you want. Do take some refreshments and a hat. I did the complete hike on sneakers. Amazing views of the Caldera. The last chapel on the road is also an amazing spot to watch the sunrise without being surrounded by a crowd (tip from a local).

The Fira-Oia hike is an absolute classic and an unforgettable experience. It is basically walking the crest of the Santorini caldera, which is the rim of the ancient volcano crater. The volcano erupted 3500 years ago leaving the crater floor submerged with only a portion of its rim remaining above water. If you think of the crater rim as a clock, Santorini forms a crescent from 12 to 6 o'clock, with Fira at 3 and Oia at 12. The hike requires no hiking skills except the ability to walk 6 mi in the sun with no shade, with some moderate ups and downs. Shoes are a better choice than flipflops. The hardest part of the hike was locating the starting point in Fira, but even that was fun getting lost in the small paths. We had already explored Fira, so we parked in the public lot near St. Gerisimos church in northern Fira and headed north. The next mile, continuing north, you'll walk through Imerovigli, after which the path gets more interesting and country-like. The setting could hardly be more dramatic, walking on a path on the edge of a 1000' cliff, with the inner rim of the island constantly in view. Views of the distant towns are sprinklings of white structures on the crest of their steep embankments with their harbors below. Oia itself is visible in the distance at the northern end of the land while Fira and Imerovigli are behind you to the south. Across the sunken crater is the tiny island Thirasia, the other non-submerged piece of the caldera rim. Using the clock analogy, Thirasia covers 9 to 10:30. We would love to visit there some day... Also, the fuming volcano vent is visible just a half-mile offshore and you can watch the tourists as they disembark the boats and walk up to the vent. You will have company walking on the trail, and the next mile passes a number of expensive hotels and residences. There is some construction going on so you'll occasionally be walking past machinery and debris, but this is minor. The trail climbs to the beautiful monastery Ekklisia Profitis Ilias and then descends to the road, which you will need to share with cars for a short distance. Oia is straight ahead. Be sure to take a quart of water or sports drink and some snack food--there are few restaurants between Imerovigli and Oia and they won't necesssarily be open. Enjoy!

Really a great walk. It starts in Fira and you go all the way to Oia. Moderately difficult. I wore good sandals and was fine. You don’t need hiking boots. This is great for kids over 8 so they can use energy. Really amazing views you don’t see anywhere else. Go through several small towns and by the churches. We enjoyed it. Remember to get going by 8:30 or so.

Very nice hike but you have to be extremely careful. Luckily there are many points to stop and rest, but some parts feel too close to the cliff to comfort. I guess it also depends on how comfortable you are with heights

Nice walk. Remember to start early in the morning before it gets hot. Take water with you as there are not many places to buy it. It is a rather easy path that you can walk in sandals, but there are places where it can be a bit slippery due to the ash and gravel on the path. Therefore, if you are inexperienced, wear shoes with a good sole. The walk from Fira to Oia took me about 2 hours.

A Santorini must do! We completed the hike in around 2 1/2 hours including plenty of stops and photo taking and with an 11 year old in tow. The views were incredible. We only started the walk at 5pm and made it to Oia for a swim and go watch the sunset. I would definitely recommend taking some snacks, LOTS of water and to wear closed in shoes. Some of the path is rather slippery, so watch where you step. If you would like to swim Once you make it to Oia, Go down the stairs … a lot of stairs! All the way to the bottom Go left and walk all the way through the restaurants and just keeping going Climb over the rocks and it will take you to a nice little area to swim. There is a huge rock/island you can swim to and a platform you can jump off. Just be careful as you enter the water though, some of the rocks are rather sharp. If you go around sunset, walk back around towards the restaurants and watch it from there It truly is beautiful. Once you are done, just make your way to the bus stop and catch the bus back which takes around 30minutes. (Bus comes every 30minutes)
