The current and neglected state of the mosque is very sad, heartbreaking.

One of the surviving mosques of our city. It was built in the port area by Egyptians in the 18th century next to the Egyptian Market (Misir Carsi) in the area of Ladadika (then Istria). Evlia Tselebi mentions the mosque and its relation to the market and the adjacent Dock Tower that was demolished in 1870. Today the mosque is not open to the public. In the 1990s some maintenance work was done that revealed its old use.

In fact, this is the Thessaloniki Pier Mosque from the Ottoman empire. Unfortunately, due to a painful application of a mentality that has no historical respect, it has now been turned into a café. We learn that the Iskele mosque, located near the pier of Thessaloniki and located in the district of "Ladadika", which is famous for its taverns today, was built by Egyptian merchants. We learn that the two-storey building was built in the second half of the 18th century in the Iskele district of the city, which was known as the "Spice Bazaar" at that time. Evliya Çelebi states that the mosque is located directly opposite the Wharf Tower. According to the Sultan Ferman of the Iskele Mosque in Hijri 1176 (1763), it is stated that the bani of the work was Haci Abdurrahman and Haci İbrahim, one of the sons of Haci Ibrahim, from the district of Salonika Cezeri Kasim Pasha, and the opening of the mosque was held in 1763 in Hijri. It is stated in the same edict that the mosque was built in order to allow the passengers coming to the port to perform their worship easily. As it is known, Thessaloniki had a great fire in 1917 and a large part of the city was completely devastated.
