★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want a low-key, high-quality authentic Greek meal in Athens, and you don’t mind graffiti and anarchists on the way, go to this spot in Exharia. It’s a family-run taverna in the thickest part of the city. The rooftop is the place to be in the warmer months, you might think you were in a village, except for the street noise below.
Excellent pork and French fries, and what is probably the best ‘bifteki’ (think 'bunless burger') in Athens.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice and cozy, traditional tavern. I had the sabanaki, fava and grilled chicken (with tomatoes instead of fries). Simple flavours, it kind of needed a bit of salt and pepper, and my chicken was a bit dry. But the ambience on the terrace and the cheap prices definitely makes this a place you need to go :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall the place looks cute and the family running the restaurant is nice.
I was disappointed though by 2 things:
1- the mix grill we ordered tasted weird, as if it was not fresh.
2- we were a big table of 12 people or more, the only customers that night, and we ordered a lot. I would have expected an offer from them (a round of wine or Tsipouro on the house) as it would have happened anywhere else.
