Despite his good reputation in sweets, my experience was bitter. I bought a chocolate bar at Christmas and they gave me something I really could not cut. I have not eaten such a stale sweet anywhere. really a pity. I threw it away and I was worried about those who tried it

Traditional and well established. This is the place to try Greek sweets and pastries. They also have a cafe which serves coffee and savoury snacks. They have a nice bath room for customers. The specials are Tsoureki (sweet brioche style bread), Large Chocolate Truffle and more! Prices are a bit high but the quality is very high! All the staff wear traditional white service robes. Parking is available (20 min free parking). Staff members are a bit grumpy. Highly recommended.

Varsos is my favorite place in Kifissia. They serve coffee, but what you are really going for are the great deserts on offer, especially what contains dairy (cream, butter). They also have great biscuits and a unique yoghurt to take away. There are many seats at the back of the shop which are usually taken by people you can tell they have been going for over 40 years. If the day is sunny then it s totally worth sitting at the big terrace which is behind. Kids friendly too!

Stepping into this place is like stepping back in time to the late 50's - early 60's, thanks to the decor. I figure adding up the ages of the patrons whom are currently sitting in this place I'd be approaching the number 8000. The seating area here is vast and the senior members of Greek society gather as friends to discuss at length all the things old people like to talk about. I can imagine back in the 1980's and before a thick cloud of cigarette smoke lingered in the upper 2/3s of this inside atmosphere, but (thankfully) there is no more smoking on the inside this place. Around since 1892 Varsos prides itself on still baking their traditional wares with the same recipe and ingredients as always. So if you are looking for traditional tasting Greek pastries this is the place to come, but pastry wise they are not stuck in the past. There is a wide variety of more modern pasties and cakes to select from as well. If it is cold outside, or pouring rain and you want to sit somewhere with ample seating choices, drink got beverages and nibble on a variety of pastries all made with real ingredients then park yourself here, visit with friends or read a book alone. Varsos will welcome you.

One of the best traditional pastry shops around . Everything is homemade daily with pure and natural ingredients from local farmers and suppliers .

A tranditional shop with sweets, cookies and dairy products which dates more than a decade ago. It still keeps a high level of quality in the products. There is a cafe at the back both inside for the winter and outside the shop for the summer. The service is very tranditional with old fashioned waitresses. Coffee is not good enough, i would not recommend as I would for all other products.

culinary landmark in Athens that looks much the same as it did 60 years ago, is like traveling back in time to one of . The venue, which is still in the hands of the Varsos family who originally opened it, is one of the most famous of Athens’ old-style coffeehouses and is the only one that has kept its traditional charm over the last several decades. Varsos was established in 1892 in central Athens, but it is the wonderfully old-fashioned Kifisia location, to which the patisserie moved in 1932, that has made the venue famous. At the beginning of the 20th century, Kifisia was a holiday destination for rich Athenians, and their stately summer mansions still dot this beautiful yet ever-expanding northern suburb, which is now popular with professionals, families and expats. Thanks to the pedestrianization of the area, Kifisia is also one of the few parts of Athens where you can comfortably stroll around. anyone could wish for, but it is best known for three specialties. The first is its plain whipped cream. The store has a whole fridge dedicated to pure, fresh whipped cream, which is sold in plastic jars bearing Varsos’s blue and red logo. The whipped cream is rich and pleasantly fatty but not sweet and, as any good housewife from Athens’ northern suburbs can testify, it is never, ever runny. The second specialty is the meringues, which are probably the best in Athens. Sold in a dizzying variety of shapes and sizes, these foamy beauties simply melt in your mouth.

Traditional sweet pastry shop. One of the best in north Athens suburbs (Kifissia) this place takes you all the way back to 50’ & 60’s. Original decor & display fridge with a huge variety of sweets and desserts to choose from. Quality is top!!! Don’t miss the nuts croissants
