★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you love the mountains i am sure you will not regret such an experience in Thassos Island ! It was difficult but also a niiiiiiiice climbing on Ypsarion ! My dear friends it's such a beautiful and quiet place! I looove it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highest point on Thassos. Amazing views of mainland Greece and Turkey (on a clear day). My wife and I were there in August so there was a heat haze which obscured the far distance views. The road up to the point is very rough and a 4x4 is essential.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice hike from Potamia. The top had a fantastic view, but the walk was the best part in my opinion. Very scenic with lots of beatiful landscape. You will also see lots of goats and lizards. Bring atleast 2 liters of water and or sportsdrink for every person. Also pack a lunch and some snacks. The walk up tok about 3 hours plus a 30 minute lunch stop. The walk down took about 2 hours including some quick snack stops. The path is quite steep at times and with lots of loose rocks so bring some good walking shoes and watch your step.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing hike to the roof of Thassos with breathtaking views. But attention, especially in the central part of the way pay huge attention not to end up on a wrong way, as the markings there are very sparse. And at the saddle at 900 m you can easily take the wrong way which I first did, because there is no marking at all, while this would be the most needed right there, so I went right side in the wrong direction to a visible very high summit but fortunately after 10 min. met mountain runners who told me it is the opposite direction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I can honestly say the walk up from Potamia was one of the nicest mountain climbs I have done. Well marked trail through light woodland. Lovely views emerging as you ascend. Not really any scrambling required, unless you go off track.
We started at 5:50am and at a leisurely pace (and 30 min stop at the top) we were got back down before 12pm.
There was nobody at the top surprisingly (mid August), despite there being a road you can drive up from the other side. So we didn't have the experience spoiled by lazy people in flip flops.
I don't recommend doing the climb after 10am. It was getting quite hot on the way down. We passed a few people going up and it didn't look as pleasant for them.
Definitely do it, it is a great break from beach days.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice trip. Your effort will be rewarded with a unbelievable panoramic view around whole island. You can get in there by car too, if you want. Highly recommended. If you hadn't been on Ypsarion, you hadn't been on Thassos.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ You too can be King of the mountain on Ypsarion the highest peak (1.220 meters) on the island of Thassos. The view is breathtaking in all directions you can see on a clear day far into the distance. Come here by foot ( a 4-5 hour hike with good boots and water and food) or by a off-road vehicle, four wheel drive is a necessity to get up the mountain and good driving skills once you are up there just take your time to relax in the nature. There are no facilities here but lot's of trees ? ?
