Expensive but great villas with amazing views. Far from city center so requires arranged transport which may prove expensive.

We have spend the week between 06-14.08 at the supposedly one of the most luxurious and expensive villas on the island of Mykonos - Horizon One an 11 bedroom villa with great views and even greater claim to be the best in Mykonos.... Unfortunately our experience was as far from that claim as it can be. We were promised five star luxury experience but we got an old and not properly maintained villa, let me explain few details and everyone who is ready to pay what the villa is listed for will understand. First in the year of Covid-19 there was no soap in any of the rooms or bathrooms. The villa is old, pictures on the internet are from the glory days of the property. Rooms and bathrooms were dated. There are 11 bedrooms in the property but only two master bedrooms which are up to the standard (but those are above the kitchen and all the smell goes up to those rooms, ventilation does not work). There are few bedrooms which are like a dungeon dark and smelling of mold( which is true for all the rooms) and not enough space and amenities like nightstands or a socket to charge your devices. Bathrooms are tragic, very old appliances most of them not working either there is no cold or no hot water or they are broken. Draining system clogged so once you take a shower everything is wet, that’s if you manage to take a shower since I had one night a shower with bottles of mineral water since the running one stoped mid shower! Check the pictures, not normal for five star, right! The lower floor guests were using only cold water. There are two kitchens, both old and dirty (you know when you touch a surface and it’s greasy). There is a jacuzzi in the villa which was filthy when we arrived. Generally all of us were disappointed with the cleanness of the villa, with the absence of curtains and black outs. Another issue was the not secured balconies and decks, we had little kids with us and it was dangerous for them. There is a “Gym” outside of the villa small and not air conditioned cramped space that might be used only from one person at the time it’s that small. On the positive side Angela, the manager of the property was running quickly and responding to all our problems from bringing anti mosquito devices to changing showers which were not working, but that does not make up for all the problems which you don’t want and don’t expect when you rent a “luxury five star villa”, you expect someone to take care of all problems before your arrival not during your stay. Other wise the team of MLV that took care of us and our wishes was amazing from the security guy Dean to the chefs Alex and Yanis, the waiter George and Margarita the concierge of MLV! Amazing people we will miss! So if you are a group thinking of renting this particular villa, lower you expectation from five star to 3 star and you might be not disappointed. Yes the views are stunning especially on the sunset, but the villa is far from everything, so a 30 minutes drive in a direction is a daily routine. Show less Date of stay: August 2020
